Should I see standing oil under oil fill cap?
I just looked at a 2008 Scion tC yesterday. 90,000 miles. Only asking $3500. Great body, great underbody, everything LOOKS great. Drove it, and drives like a dream. Checked fluids, oil looked a bit high on dipstick, over max fill line, but not by a ton. I then opened the oil fill cap, (while the car was in idle and right after aggressively test driving it) and l see what looks like standing oil (obviously isn't given the car is in idle). I could not even see the valve rockers. You could dip your finger in there if you wanted to. I am curious if anyone has ever seen this. Is this common in some cars or a sign that the seller has overfilled their oil? Any help is greatly appreciated
NOTE: No milky residue from coolant getting into oil.
