2005 TC engine problems- might void warrenty
I am needing to know what is the problem with 2005 TC engines? I was looking through the search and it was saying somthing about them having problems with the engine. This would help out alot. I have a friend who has a blown motor and they are trying to void his warrenty. The car is stock.
Problems with the engine? Can you be more specific, as I don't recall ever having seen serious issues. Perhaps links to the threads, or a description of why they want to void your friend's warranty for no apparent reason.

it's a toyota engine..
to add on... a CAMRY engine..
the "Mechanic's MOST Boring Engine" to work on... why?
cause it's a great engine that hardly has any issues... so they usually don't need to fix anything...
unless..... someone really... i mean.. really..... does something dumb and breaks it.
your friend drive a stick? did he downshift and overrev? that's the only time i've ever heard engines blowing besides turbo'd or other modified parts with out proper internals.
at which point... warranty won't cover him.

beantowntC told me he spun bearings on his 05... even with I/H/E + P, Toyota still covered it under warranty. Seems to me they are aware of this issue and wanted to fix it ASAP instead of b1tching about his mods
well what happen is that he was driving the car and it started to act funny and then he pushed in the clutch and the car died. It would not start. he coasted to the side of the highway. I went a looked at it and tried to start it. it sounded like it would start but did not ahve enough power. The car is stock and has never had parts on it.
They say it was lack of oil in the car, and the dealer says he had only a quart of oil when he took it in. I just cannot not believe the car would eat up that much oil, and he never drove it that much. But i think it could have spun a rod bearing like the fourms were saying due to lack of oil. Also why would the oil light not come on in the car if it only had 1 QT of oil. I mean when cars get low on oil i can feel some thing is wrong. He says there was oil in the car. they are not wanting to put a new motor in the car. What do you all think.

yeah definetly a different dealership...if he can prove his maitenance record, like keeps a log, then he can say that he did routine maintenance, and checked oil regularly.....
1 qt of oil should show a pressure warning light, as thats barely enough to even lube a quarter of the engine....
