It'll all depend on the EMS and tune. As far as I know you can't really get to 200 with bolt ons... not without a LOT of $$ put into it.

Even with some pretty aggressive cams, I don't think you'll hit 210 easily. At that point, you're better off trying to find ways to save weight, which would be cheaper to gain performance.

Doesnt tcpete have like 210 with a built n/a motor and engine management, so I dont think it will be easy with just bolt ons

high compression pistons, overbored block, cams, tune w/good ems, intake, exhaust, port and polish and others.. our motors isnt really a good platform for NA..

If you gut your car (a/c, complete interior, also costs no money), you'll notice gains in performance. 210whp with a 3000lb car (without person) < 170whp car weighing 2500 or less.

Basically, it's not worth it to even try to prove your friend wrong. If you save up for an N/A build that hits 210whp, you'll have enough for a turbo, tune, maintenance. and be running 250+whp easily.

It's in the eyes of the beholder. Some people can get high numbers with F/I, but I also respect when people hit, respectively high numbers with a N/A setup. It's not always about the money as much as how much work was put into the project.

I was talking to my local tuner (Churches in so cal) who has tuned more scions than I can imagine and he said the highest power all motor Tc was 192 Hp with 185 Tq

That was with I/H/E/P and the AEM EMS full standalone

Save your nickles and dimes and save for F/I.

Only bolt-on worth spending your $ on are the ones that are compatible with F/I.

IE Some CAI's and exhausts~

you really can't without forced induction unless you do a serious n/a build dude.

to go from 140 whp to 210 whp is a 70 whp gain without boost...very hard to do, our engines don't rev insanely high like honda's do.

and the supercharger with 7 psi only makes 190 whp, so to think that just a bunch of bolt-on parts and tuning can do it is very optimistic.

He's correct, and I'll take it one step further.

To get 200whp out of a 2AZ you'll need to:

1) Buy a 2nd, separate engine
2) Keep it in the garage over a few months.
3) Tear it completely down. Bore it as big as it'll go.
4) Build it up with top-notch EVERYTHING.
5) Strengthed, lightened, higher-compression, insane camshaft profile, big valves, etc.
6) Balanced.
7) Port matched, polished head.
Full standalone EMS, and about 6 hours on a dyno to sort everything out.

.....

In the end, you'll get over 200whp... but you'll also have spent over $10k... and will probably get demolished by any average joe who spent half that on a turbo kit.

And then, you find out you're still slower than most stock real sports cars.
