5th Gear Clunking Noise (Vid Inside)
So my TC has started to make a clunking noise and i narrowed it down to the transmission, 3rd and 4th gear make noise, but when i put it in 5th it gets really loud. i already changed the fluid and no metal shavings came out, i then read on another thread that the 5th gear nut can come loose and create noise, but the problem is that i don't know if this nut is supposed to be tight or if its not. i can see that when i turn the axle (from the brake rotor, which is what the very loud clunking noise is) the shaft, gear and nut all move. so theoretically the nut could be tight and the gear should still move, but i'm not sure hence my post.

That nut should absolutely not be loose, the gear is ok to spin but that nut should not be loose at all. The nut should not really back off like that, the cut out in the shaft at the top, and the denting(staking) of the nut is so the nut does not back off/loosen

as far as how tight, i tightened it to 90 ft/lbs after reading J3st3rs' DIY trans assembly article:

honestly, i'm not sure because even after tightening the nut it's still making the noise, the noise now sounds like it's from the caliper, the CV is brand new, i'm thinking it could be the wheel bearing in the wheel hub.
