Default All Engine Swaps / What's Reasonable?

I've been reading and wondering... what engine swaps are within reason to do on the tC? For instance, the 3SGTE, from the 90's-circa MR2, turbocharged that makes a 200bhp.

Anyone try it? What has been tried? I think I've read somewhere that somebody has put the Camry V6 (3.0L?) in there before, right?

Why swap then?

Low stage turbo on our motor would gain you more...

I'd go with the 3.0 v6 and that opens up a ton of more power options

Short answer: none. You have to search at least a dozen "engine swap" threads for the long answer.

Onyl one has been done and documented on this site. It was a V6 dropped into a tC. I forget what V6, i never did read up on the thread.
And there are about 3 different engines that the PROS have dropped on a tC frame for drag racing.

But if you have the money, you can do it to.

the 2az-fe is a good engine. yea it's only got 160hp stock, but it's a 2.4l, forged crank, alumium block and head, etc...

the 2az-fe responses to boost very well. you able to double the hp with under 10psi of boost. why go through the hassle of a swap

i have heard of people dropping the 3S-GTE in 7th Gen Celicas. im sure with enough fabrication you can get it done. its alot harder than it sounds though. Toyotas arent like hondas where everything bolts up together, not to mention engine management and the OBD crap.

Yeah, it was more of a 'lets-get-this-question-documented' kind of thread. I wasn't seriously considering doing this myself.

It's good to share the knowledge for those that come along later wondering the same thing.

And each one of those tCs have a tube front clip or chassis. Other than the Camry V6 swap that was documented here, which IIRC provided little gain, no one else has admitted to swapping an engine into stock tC frame... yet. I'm still waiting for a Lotus-tuned, supercharged 2ZZ swap.

The v6 is a 1mz-fe out of a 98 Lexus es-300 (otherwise known as the camry). It was a helluva lot of work and required alot of fabrication, but it fits. It's a fun project that still requires some fine tuning, but all in all it came out better then we expected it to.
