Default With all this talk about RASP!

I'm very interested in getting a few ponnies from the bolt on department. So far I've
got the Injen CAI, am looking at the Megan header and the PM axle back exhaust. The last thing I want is a loud, raspy exhaust I drive 144 miles round trip to work a day.

The header is $212 on the eBay new. So my questions are will this system be a noise problem? Also should I just go with the exhaust and CAI and call it quits?
The last thing I want is to do the install and not like the results then there's the
check engine light issue also.

I honestly think I will leave the header alone and call it quits what do you guys think!

i dont like PM exhaust because its crush bent..not mandrel!! so its not really worth it IMHO, i would go with the SP2 because its not too loud, and it looks stock..o ya its made by greddy

it seems like people just spend a couple of bucks and get a resonator put in their midpipe then rasp is gone.

resonator sounds good if it will kill the rasp. I've seen several threads on this matter but want to be sure before I buy all this stuff.
Thanks

Resonator will do the trick.. Heres a clip of my car with Alphawerks header, larger resonator and TRD axleback.

CLICK ME

The PM setup will be even quieter with the exact setup. Dont worry about the crush bends of the PM kit. It will not affect the HP to any noticeable egree.

Even with the resonator it kills the rasp but it still is loud. I would get the intake and maybe and exhaust no header. But that is all what you consider loud and tolerable.

I only drove around with the TRD axleback installed for a few hours and I felt it was too loud for my tastes. According to WeDriveScions and KINGxOFxSKA who I drove around with said it sounded nice from the outside.

You do have to remember that our axle backs are designed a certain way to keep the tC at a quiet tone. We could always make a mandral bent axle back, but than you customers have to pay the price. Always remember that we have the cheapest exhaust out there to the benefit to you the customer.

NO MATTER WHAT. If you buy an aftermarket header you will get RASP. Its the sound of performance man!! Deal with it. Turn up your music or jus leave ur windows rolled up.

If you dont wanna deal with the RASP then dont get headers. Your tC will do fine with jus and Intake and Axle back exhaust.

When I just had my K&N CAI and Greddy Evo Exhaust I was able to beat my friends B18 EK Civic. He stuck me by like half a car length but I managed to keep the kill.

Now with the addition of my Header and S-Pipe I know for a FACT the half car length would be 1-2 now.

So if you worried about RASP, just do with out it. The tC still stands its ground with just the addition of Intake and Exhaust. Your gas milage should improve some too with just intake and exhaust.

If I were you, I'd wait until a Mid-Pipe is made WITH the addition of a resonator and/or CAT added to it. Don't waste your money being a "test dummy" for companies creating these NEW parts. Let the first round of "test dummies" be the ginnypigs and eventually they will get the kinks out of it. Then I would suggest looking for the rest of your bolt on set up.

Not totally true. Myself and many others ave eliminated rasp by replacing the factory resonator with a larger one. There is little if any performance difference by going to a larger unit with a significant reduction in rasp. I got mine resonator + installation for just over $100 out the door at a local muffler shop.

HmM. Depending on how much you plan to fork out to quiet your exhaust note is totally up to you. I'm not bothered too much by the sound, I'd rather jus use that money towards something else on my car like my suspension. I know by the time I have that completed there will be more options as for mid pipes etc. But if you wanna be ahead of the rest make use of the resonator and find a muffler shop.

I'm just working on other aspects of my car before I hit up the exhaust/header area. That is what I would recommend anyway. I'll probably do springs, shifter, and intake before looking in that direction.

depends what each person considers "rasp." after installing AW header and about 3000 miles later i still get little to no rasp. i jus put the trd exhaust on last night and it was very loud. i didnt hear any rasp either. but like i said, very loud. many say header and exhaust combo will give you rasp but in my experience, i have yet to hear any rasp from the AW and TRD combo. btw i have the stock s-pipe for now. i'm putting on my greddy sp2 once it comes in tomorow. i'll let yall know how that combo sounds.

do you have to have the s-pipe with resonator combo or will jut the (i've heard 30 inch magnaflow) resonator kill the rasp?

Well fellas I bought the PM axle back exhaust. I am going to give the header a little time to marinate in my mind a little. As for other mods I already have the

18" Focal K5 grey ( like my motorcycle Suzuki Gixxer K5 1000)
Kumho 712 Escta supra 225/40/18
TRD SPRINGS
20% Tint all around
Injen CAI
PM exhaust
OBX Pedals
Chrome marker bulbs
Ive only had the car 4 weeks so Im still working on it.

The noise is a big deal with me! Like I mentioned I drive A LOT and cant deal with the drone of the exhaust. Also I dont want to sound or look Kiddie or ricy.
