Default Auto tranny sticking?

When it's could outside like these last few days sitting around 5-10 degrees, my tranny will stick. When I mean my tranny sticks, it holds in gear. I warmed up my car for like 5 minutes, left the parking lot, hopped onto the interstate, and the tranny would shift outta 1st and 2nd fine but holds itself in 3rd. I am at all the freaking way to 70mph and it's holding itself at little over 4000rpm and like sticking on 3rd gear. Now after I drive on the interstate for about 1 minute of sticking, then it will go into forth. Any ideas why it would stick like that? Anyone else with the problem before? It only happens when it's cold so can it be the fluids being cold still?

Yeah when your car sits and warms up only the engine is warming up. It'll take a while for the tranny fluids to warm up so this is normal. I dont know of a quicker way to warm it up other than just driving.

I don't know if this is true, but a mechanic once told me to warm up the tranny, put the car in drive while holding the brake and hold it there for a couple minutes. Thank god I don't have to deal with 5-10 degree temps anymore, in SoCal now. :D

yea man, this is perfectly normal. The tranny holds the lower gear so the car can warm up faster. Happens to me everyday in the winter.
