Bad 5th Gear keeps popping out, found problem (pics included)

My car started to pop out of gear while I drive it started slowly where it would stay in gear and if I hit a bump pop out or if I was in boost it would pop out. I did some research and found plenty of people saying are 5th gear and synchros are going bad or low transmission fluid. When I filled up with new fluids it did nothing so next step was buy used transmission. Luckily guy was selling one local for only $150 on Craigslist so I picked it up when I took a closer look at it the bell housing was bad where it bolted to the mount. Tried taking it to the transmission shop to see if they could swap out my bell housing with the old one
and he told me as much as I will spend on that I can rebuild my own so I went back to the shop and tried it myself I remember there was a thread about someone swapping there 5th gear and synchro by removing only the black cover.

I started it and I think I did it correct lol wish me luck.

The two transmissions:

Installed correctly I think?:nails:

If it looks good let me know first time ever taking gears out and swapping them out.

Good job bro! U just saved yourself a lot of dough. Did you use a pulley puller for the fifth gear?

a pully puller didnt just fit so we mad shift a gig to make it work.

if you need some help or instructions i can kinda tell you how i did it the best i can without pics. the tool to remove it could not be found any where local and the transmission shop wanted to charge way to much.

Did it work?

I'm thinking about doing mine myself as well, I was wondering if it worked.

I'm beyond amazed and thankful that you did all this.

What year tC was it? Mine's a 2005 having the same problems so I got a new 5th gear kit on eBay and a synchro ring set OEM but haven't opened the tranny cuz not sure if I the right ring is included cuz the synchro rings listed on Parts.Toyota.com were weirdly worded.

On Parts.Toyota.com in terms of synchro rings there's two sets listed for ~$140 called synchronizer ring set No.1 and No. 2 along with individual rings each $40-$75 called synchronizer ring inner No. 5, outer No. 5, and middle No. 5, and 2nd synchronizer inner, and synchronizer ring No. 3.

I know i can always just keep in 4th but ideally I want to go above 60mph on Hwy 95.
