CA cops... goddd
so i got pulled over..i was racing haha and beat an older v6 maxima. 2000 is my guess. but uhm yeah got pulled over and told the cop i was just speeding .. he wrote me a ticket for 60 in a 45 zone.. so lucked out there..but he then asked to pop the hood and bam was my header and cai. soooo anyone ever been to the REF? do you think it's worth it to see the ref and pay the estimated 200 fine... or to pay the unfixed at 300.. hmmm anyone been in the same situation as me? any advice..?
wow... first of all... dont street race... ur lucky u didnt kill anyone or kill urself... second, go to see the Ref... if u can swap the header and CAI by urself, u can save urself $100. and third.... DONT STREET RACE!! :D
I suppose it depends on how much your time is worth. Regardless, the ref will ask you to remove anything than isn't CARB approved and ask you to replace them with stock or with parts approved for the car by CARB. I'd stick the stock parts back on, go see the ref and get him to sign-off.
Damn, I've never heard of anything like that here in MA. Does anyone from NE know if they do stuff like this here?
Not like I havn't anything on the box that would be a problem (K maybe underbody LEDS) but that sounds crazy. Are you leagally required to open your hood or was the cop just being hard on you? Did you mouth off to him? None of the cops that have ever pulled me over have been jerks.
Then again, I pull over, roll done my windows, pull the e brake, put my keys on the dash, and only call them officer or Sir , but they've always been nice. Come to think of it, what is the correct way to address a female officer? Can you Say Ma'am?

^^Seriously, are you drunk?
Either that or you have fat fingers because it sure was hard to read your post.
lilaznjdawg: you got lucky! Usually the cops are real *****$ and look for ish to pop you with. Just put the stock parts back on, have the ref sign you off, then put the aftermarket parts back on.

It California, you'll get fined just for having bad breath. I woudln't be surprised if this is true, as I'm not even sure (given the laws in that state), they deserve to even be part of the Union anymore. The people of California should move to REAL America.
Anyways, you're lucky you weren't in Florida... you'll get arrested for street racing, and I'd pull over just to applaud the officer putting cuffs on you.

In parts of CA, mainly Los Angeles they bring a crusher to the area where the street racing was occuring and just flat out crush your car, no questions asked oh... and its legal too.
Just last night on my way home from work some fool tried to race me, my street racing days ended long ago...
Your lucky you didn't get arrested or worse off end up dead wrapped around a tree (happens in Orange County all the time) all you got was a fixit ticket, pay the fine and count your blessings. Chalk it up to a learning experience.
