Default Check Engine Light after rain?

Drove for a few miles in extremely heavy rain last night and hit a few pretty deep puddles. car had no CEL's on last night.
Started the car this morning after it sat overnight and both the Check Engine Light and flashing Maintenance Needed light were on.

Could the rain have caused this? I understand the Check Engine but why would the Maintenance Light go on too?

Any opinions would be great, it's got me worried.

Evap system you mean... not sure if it would be related to the water though. Sometimes moisture can have an effect on stuff, but it is hard to say. I'd give it another day or two before doing anything. I'd also recommend removing/securing your gas cap again. That's usually the first thing a place like Autozone will tell you.

The maintenance light is a separate issue though. Is that on solid or flashing when you start the car? The ONLY thing the maintenance light does is to notify you when it is time for scheduled maintenance. By default it is set for 4500 and 5000 mile intervals. It will flash 5 times when you reach 4500 miles from its last reset. When you reach 5000 from the last reset it will stay on.

awsome, appreciate the quick help. maint. light is flashing...i just got the car used a month ago so i wouldnt doubt its just due for an oil change. thats a bit of a relief. the check engine light is another issue though..ill give it a day or two and see what happens i guess..

it means your engine is wet and needs to be dried off.
