Do these scion motors tend to be on a louder side? My car is is stock, with just a trd exhaust. The engine is smooth and everything, but sometimes the engine bay seems to be kind noisy. I mean i understand injector tick, but anything else? thanks, first toyota in a while coming from a srt-4.

 

yes they are very noisy.

 

louder compared to what? they tend to be alittle louder because they use a timing chain instead of a timing belt for longevity reasons.

but a stock tc with stock exhaust and intake, pretty dang quiet.

 

Well its not LOUD, but u can hear the small noises, im sure its normal though, the car runs sooo smooth, but ya i just thought it was just me or something. Usually i hear the injectors ticking, and then slight small noises hear and there.

 

well.....there are explosions in your cylinders....maybe its that =p

 

to be honest...i've just about lost all prospective on how quiet a stock tc is on the inside since my own tc is well...quite brutal with supercharger, motor mounts, VERY LOUD EXHAUST, and a squeaky serpentine belt to boot. but having been outside of stock tc's at shows and autocross and such, they are very quiet.

 

and then there is that vacuum switch that clicks for the emissions.. what was that? the vsv? something like that, it's over there by the brake fluid reservoir. tick, click, tick tick.. so i close the hood, ahh, that's quiet
