Engine removal.
When we pulled the drivetrain out of the 08' tC we removed both axles from the transmission, pulled the intake, exhaust manifold, hood, accessories, and 4 motor mounts. Pulled it up and out, the engine needs to be tilted at a pretty good angle to get it out (engine side higher).
If you remove the radiator, condenser, and core support top rail it will save you time and you won't have to lift it so high since it can roll in and out through the front. Takes 2 guys minimum to do this job safely.

I'm guessing you leave the /ps pump connected to the block, but remove the lines? Shame it cant be unbolted and left alone. I've got everything pulled except for the axles, mounts, and ps pump. I'm about to embark on that part of the process. Surprisingly, 10yr old exhaust bolts didnt break and the heat shield on the manifold came off without any issues. I think all of them broke on my subaru when I did exhaust work.
OK...I'm really confused about how to deal with the power steering pump. Do I pull lines? The routing is very convoluted imho. I seem to be missing a point here when considering how its removed from the block or not d/c. I have everything but this ps pump and the motor mounts removed.
Any advice?

I ended up pulling the no1 hose to the reservoir and then popping the banjo bolt off. What a mess. I guess you have to do this anyway if you're replacing it based on the FSM procedures. FWIW, the FSM is pretty lacking in real directions.
We just pulled the PS bolts and left the pump on the car. Didn't want to drain and fill it. Can be done either way, one way you have to drain and fill and the other is a PITA to get to the bolts through the holes in the pulley.
Dang. I guess I would have rather dealt with the bolts, but oh well. I now understand why the SST is useful, but then realized its just a serpentine belt tool. I thought I couldnt get a socket on it until I had the motor out. I hate opening systems for the potential of contamination. That steering rack looks like a pain to deal with. I'm not sure why they want you to pull the steering linkage either.
I'm going to install ES motor mounts since I have this thing out of the box.
Question.... Did you notice any difference in the intakes or what combination did you use in the swap? I was trying to determine if I should use the 2010 intake and TB in the 2006 or if I can. There is one hose difference and I dont know if the TBs are compatible.

Does anyone know where I can find the gasket for the banjo bolt on the p/s pump? I guess I can use 2 copper rings, but I would have figured this one piece configuration could be found. I'd almost reuse the one removed, but it says not to.
Decided to install ES motor mount bushings. That wasnt nearly as difficult to install as a lot of threads made it seem. It should lead to some good vibarations ;)....
