Front motor mount
 

I just got my mounts from dezod and they look sick. I want to put the front one in on my own. My friend has put mounts and his type s before so he said we can give it a shot lol. I just wanted to know for myself what it competely involves. I searched and did not find a diy for this. So any input would be greatly appericated.

My grandma could change the front mount. Should take you 15 minutes. The rear, I would just take to a shop.

that is what i plan on doin. i just wanted to know what it takes to change the front 1, because i know that is the easiest.

if i remember correctly, its two bolts for the little cover underneath the car, two for the actual mount also underneath the cover, and the cross bolt holding the mount to the engine bracket. its pretty simple... if im not mistaken, its also the same size... 14mm?

that seems pretty simple. this may sound like a dumb question....but i have 4 inserts and 3 metal brackets(more like tubes that go inside the insert) how do i know which one to use with which mount? i figured i would be able to tell once i have the stock one out, but im not sure.

hmmm good question, for the inserts, once you get the mount out, youll be able to tell which ones go where. as for the metal tubes, thats a good question, my system came as a solide replacement with the metal tubing inside already... cant help ya there... sorry

well thanks anyway man. i know which inserts to use, because they have numbers which are labled on the directions. But the directions don't tell you much about how to actually install them.

heres how you install them.

take the old ones out.
put the new ones in.

front mount:
from under the mount there are 2 14mm bolts, remove those, lift the engine with a hand jack, remove the center bolt. press (or cut) out the stock mount, then press (can use a vice) the new mount in, make sure to use the supplied lube and then insert the metal sleeve that fits flushly into it and revers the progress.

transmission mount (requires 2 of the inserts (the 2 that look similar)):

remove intake and battery, battey tray (both plastic one and metal, metal tray consist of 3 10mm bolts that are easily accessable)

remove top bolt (iirc its a 17mm) then support the transmission. repeat same process to remove the front mount then press the 2 inserts in and use the appropriate metal insert, again make sure to use the lube.

rear:
(the tcpete way) remove intake and shifter cables, reach down and remove the bracket, remove insert and press in new insert, again LUBE LUBE LUBE.


if you dont use the lube the inserts will squeek.

well theres not really much to explain.
all anyone can tell you is where the mounts are located, then you look for them, find them, take them out, and put the new ones in...

no problem man, i went into the install with no idea what to do (granted this was a long time ago) and fortunately i had access to 1/4 million dollars worth of tools haha and a lift, torch, press, vices etc. so yea my install went smooth :P

in a driveway it might be tricky.

I was going to do mine myself, but then I didn't want to get halfway through and realize I need a press which I don't have and be stuck. Found a shop that quoted my $120-150. It's not bad compared to the $300 scion wanted.

i just installed the front mount yesterday. It was extremly easy. This comming week i want to try the trans mounts.

hardest part really is figuring out how to press in the new bushing.If no press is available you can use a vice and a socket and a pipe as they are not super hard pressed in.No need to pay to have it done....start early in the day with good light and a friend to help and you are good as gold.

I was goin to try to press it in myself, cause the guy that i took the front mount to just put it in a vice. It didnt look that hard. But he did it for free so that was kinda nice lol.
