Help!!! Low Oil Pressure..Rebuilt engine..
 

I Have a 2007 Scion tC, just overhauled the engine to manufacturers specs, crank and rods are standard, brand new head and cams. Using 5w30 oil.
Engine only makes 8psi in oil pressure at idle when warmed up. Cold engine oil pressure is at 30 psi. Brand new oil pump and still same issue.

Any ideas what it could be?

2007, 2008 and 2009 models recommend 0w25 or 0w20. Only 2005 and 2006 models recommend 5w30. The 2007, 2008 and 2009 oil rings are one piece instead of three. This along with smaller piston oil-return-ports make many 07, 08 and 09 engines burn oil.

Did your overhaul include cleaning burnt carbon from the piston oil-return-ports? 0w25 or 0w20 might up your pressure but I'm not sure how much.

I took the car too a mechanic who works at Toyota, he told me I had too pull my engine apart again. He told me that even thou the car has great oil pressure al idle, once you rev it to 3,000 rpm it looses pressure because of the bearings. he explained to me that the engine block, the crank and the piston rods come with a particular number for which a unique bearing goes in to each place. he says that aftermarket bearing come in the lowest size available, and my engine probably used the largest ones, creating a drainage of oil pressure at the crank. I have too pull out the engine and measure each main and each road I.D and OD. to find the appropriate bearing for my engine.

Dealer uses 5w20 on mine and is what i think is written on the oil cap
