HELP removing head bolts

As my title states I need some help and or advice on removing the head bolts. The repair manual states that they are only tightened down to 58 lb/ft of torque. But I am not able to even budge mine let alone remove them. I have tried various removal methods from a 2ft breaker bar to a 250 lb/ft torque air gun and haven't been able to move one yet. What am I doing wrong and what tips can you give me on to remove them?

I think we used a 3 foot pipe added to the end of the breaker bar to get mine off. Me pulling while another (big) guy pushed did the trick. Also IIRC you torque the bolts THEN they go another quarter turn, so there's actually more than what the manual states.

3foot breaker bar did the trick for me. youre not just fighting the torque, theres also galling that will have undoubtedly taken place between the aluminum in the block and the steel alloy of the head bolt. I recommend slow but firm pressure (dont shock them) to make sure you dont break any of the threads out. Best of luck. Take a beer break every 2 bolts.:icon_biggrin:
