Help! Whirling noise and not boosted
I started the car, which is auto, and a whirling noise came on as the engine cranked. It stayed on, and gets louder as I push the gas. It's never happened before, so I pulled over to take a look. No noise from outside or in the hood of the car. At that point I was convinced I had an exhaust leak, but nothing either.
The noise seem to come from behind the steering wheel. Anyone else heard or this problem, or any suggestions? I only have an axle back( no exhaust leak), and that's it. There isn't any fluid leaks under the car either. Only has 25k miles. Anyone please post some of your wisdom and help me. Thanks! |

I still have stock intake, I also checked that as well. All in good condition.

I guess it can be described as a high pitch whining noise. It even make that sound if the AC isn't on.I can hear it as the car is starting. I didn't think it could be the belt or anything since its got such low miles. But yeah no noise coming from engine bay.

My xB started a whining spin sound with only 49K miles. It was my high output OHIO alternator making the noise with only 40k miles on it . It spun a bearing inside:shock: + presently charging, but needs to be replaced, which is on order with Mechman alternators:biggrin:.
