Default Humming/Whistling Noise

I get a kind of low-pitched, droning, whistling noise coming from my engine when I drive around. It seems to do it the most if I cruise-control the car at 65mph going down the freeway. Is this normal? Is it something that I could get the dealer to check out? Thanks in advance.

if it's stock it's normal... w/ a cai it's normal more pronounced...

basically the whistle is just the air being sucked into the airbox

i think it could either be coming from the moonroof or your window. i had to listen for it and it seems to resonate from those areas. wierd.

This wierd/annoying sound occurs only on manual tranny as I heard from Toyota engineer at the shop. If it is true, the sound is coming from tranny, not from intake.
Anyone who has a manual tranny has any complaint regarding whistle sound when you raise the speed at the lower gear?

I hear similar sound at 65 as well but it is not a big problem becasue I don't cruse at 65. But seriously I really sick and tired of noisy sound at the lower speed when I raise the speed. I have installed Injen CAI and Concept g exhaust, but still I can hear the noise as much as before...

Toyota engineer said the manual tranny came from Corola, but engine came from Camry.. I guess this is a kind of mismatch...

i get this high pitch noise when driving around sometimes/most of the time when i dont have my radio turned up high. i wouldnt call it a whistle because it does seem inconsistent like a whistle, it is a very clean sound. but it isnt very loud and ive heard the same sound from other cars so im not worried...or should i be

That's really weird about the humming at 65 mph. I mean it happens at EXACTLY that speed. Not at 63 or 67. To me, it sounds like my tC is a GIANT tuning fork. I also hear a similar sound at slow speeds, almost like the exhaust manifold heat sheid is vibrating. But I think that's rpm related like Squall said.

But I do hear a whistle from my Injen. I understand that's just how it is. My radio's usually up high enough that it gets drowned out.

Im sure its fine. But if a little whistle noice worries you, you should drive my tC. haha. mines full of noises.

A solution the whistle noise though would be crank up the stereo or get a loud exhaust
