Default Injen intake low RPM power loss ???'s

I have seen on this forum about intakes causing the engine to lose power at lower RPMs (as much as 20%) then kicking in at around 3k. But looking at http://www.injen.com/2110_mkt.html, it looks like the power loss is negligible at 2100RPMs with noticible gains at 3k.

Does anyone know what the dyno is from idle (800 RPM) to 2100? Will it affect how quickly I'll be able to get across an intersection or make that unprotected left turn? From what I've seen on my auto tranny, the engine spools pretty quickly to 2K.

From what that dyno sheet shows me, I don't really see any real world disadvantages to getting an intake. Power gains are small, but oh that sound...
Anyone care to list why NOT to get an intake? BTW, I'm thinking SRI so hydrolock is a non-issue and I may hook up a flex hose to the front bumper behind the fake foglight thingy to get cooler air to the filter so there goes heat soak.

Reason Not:

Save you money
Getting a turbo soon

Reason To:

Sweet ___ sound
asthetic look under the hood
a good first mod
slight gain
needed if you are going NA.

So far Injen is the only one that can convert from SRI to CAI. That's the one I have.

I think the intake was a great invesment. The Injen, sounds mean and after a few days it has worn in and seems to get fatser everyday.

power loss??

i dont think so. when the engine is running that slow, usualy gains arent felt or produced and its juse the same as stock becasue the engine doesnt need anymore air then it already has been taking in stock or with the intake.

for those who said there is power loss in the lower RPM? wrong. its jus no power gain in the lower RPM.

Try to remember a dyno is wide open acceleration.... I doubt very much you go wide open in 1st, and in 2nd if you are wide open you are well above 3k anyways.

The loss in HP is in a band where you won't care about wide open acceleration. And under part acceleration you won't notice any loss.

Thanks for very helpful replies! I think that takes care of all of my concerns. Once I have the money, I'll be getting the Injen After the clear bra and tint...

well, u will notice a loss in power...that is a fact...i love the tc's low end...it pulls so well, almost like a v6....that will be lost for sure, but will make up for in the high end.

Okay...that contradicts what hahaitzskippy and apexjr said. Whatever power loss there is, up to what RPM is it felt at?

From what I interpreted from apexjr is that all I have to do is dip a little deeper into the throttle. At WOT, any power loss won't be noticed because it's at such a low rpm and 2k arrives at a blink of an eye and 3k is a heartbeat away. When it shifts at WOT, it doesn't drop below 3k so it should remain in the power band.

Am I thinking straight here or not? It's 3:40am and higher brain functions are somewhat limited...

BTW, HumanTorch....sweeeeeet ride!

tC4ST, You are correct. I am trying to decide between the Injen and K&N today so I can order one. Im searching the site for the sound clip of the K&N. I have heard the Injen and like it, but I have IIP and want the Blue Intake. Anyone with answers just reply. Thanks.
