Injen users...

Just to inform folks, at least from my experience...I recently installed the Injen, only Short Ram at the present moment...what I've noticed thus far is that the Fuel Vapor Sensor goes on a hell of a lot more then it used to. (Its that clicking you may or may not here at idle, from hard acceleration etc...

So far nothing has come of it, since its sposed to do it, just seems like its doing it a lot more...I'll keep the status updated if a code gets thrown from running to rich or lean...maybe its just paranoia...hehe

Is it a clicking or more of a whistling??

jbae1221 03-24-2006 12:16 AM

mine does that too.. i have an injen short ram at the moment and i noticed a lot more clicking.. the whistling is suppose to be there.. injen said it was air moving through the filter...

Yes, I know that :loser:

gjpjr84 03-24-2006 12:26 AM

i had my injen as a SRI for several months and I had NO problems or any weird things that weren't supposed to happen.
I changed it to a CAI a few weeks back.

i don't think that comment was directly at you, more like if it happens to be a whistle for the guy....

davedavetC 03-24-2006 12:32 AM

ive had my intake for more than 15.1k and not a single problem

DelayedTurbo 03-24-2006 12:37 AM

Nah its not the whistle..sposed to whistle...hehe...its a clicking...the fuel vapor sensor is sposed to click, its normal...its just clicking a ____ load more then normal, since nothing has happened however I'm not all the worried bout it...

gjpjr84 03-24-2006 12:41 AM

the only problems I know of that people have had are the occasional bracket breaking

It happened to mine, but I got the dealership to fix it under warranty. Apperently that bracket is welded to the motor mount. So basically I got a new motor mount for free! No complaints here!

clicking is normal the reason you hear it now is because now you have less restriction for the intake and its a metal tube so it gets louder since the stock intake was rubber it absorb noise noise better and also it muffles noises.the clicking also has to do with outside temp above 70 the clicking goes away

my injen is configured as sri. but so far no problems/complains here. hmm i never heard of any clicking as well from my setup. just my 2 cents.

I have the same thing going on. Injen SRI installed for about 5 months. I found this thread because I'm concerned that the clicking (not whistling) is getting worse. Although I thought that maybe it was coming from the MAFS. More air, more clicking? I can't imagine either, that if I finish the full CAI install, that the clicking would just go away. Anyone else with some more insight?

azepolyn 04-26-2006 03:40 PM

yep, I got the click, I thought it to be more of a knocking. Concerned me at first bc I do drive hard. Finally found a friend who can drive a 5sp so I could listen from outside while in drive. Cant hear it until the RPMs come down, and its louder in idle.
From what I can tell it's nothig to eb concerned about. I'm tentative to take it to the dealership since its obviously direct cause of the intake, so warranty coverage would be poop and they'd be little to no help.
I've been driving easier here lately bc of gas prices, but the whole clicking realtive to temp may be true. when I get paid I'll try it out! hopefully it'll be awrming up again soon

I have the CAI installed btw

It sounds to me like you're hearing a VSV (vacuum switching valve). If it's mounted to anything real solid it can amplify the sound. There was a probalem with one of the first STB's that Hotchkis made touching the VSV and you could hear it inside the car. (or atleast I think it was hotchkis) But that's what it sounds like to me.
