First get yourself some isopropal alcohol, que-tips, pipe-cleaners, all purpose cleaner (i recommend simple green), some shop rags (clean ones), fabric cleaner, all your car tools, lots of floor space, a workbench and plenty of spare time cause it's time to do a complete tear-down, clean out and rebuild!
I just kidding..

Water pumps only need to be changed out if they fail, almost the same thing for thermostats. I wouldn't worry about either if you're not over heating or having heat issues.

No, the chains only need to be replaced when they break which is rare, hence why a chain driven timing system is optimal. A lot less wear.

exactly =) it should last the life of your engine... usually lol

I have 6000 miles to go for my 100,000 mile mark, my self i have done every 5000 miles, Oil Change Full Synthetic, Air filter, Oil filter, spark plugs, tire rotation.
So at my 100,000 mile marker i will be doing a Trainy flush as well as the coolant and Belt.
Am i missing something

the way i see it, spark plugs aren't expensive and the car runs much better.
my friend its a mechanic and owns his shop and one day i ask him to change the oil for me because i had no time, i always do my own 5000 mile maintenance, unless its something major.
So he did the oil change, air filter, gas filter, oil filter and new spark plugs, so i asked him why the gas filter and sparks.
He said this, gas its not 100% clean if it was 100% clean all cars wouldn't need a gas filter, spark plugs burn up because they always sparking while the car is running there for constantly being fried at the tips, put new spark plugs and car will run better all the time.
And so that is why i have been doing it.
overkill maybe, but i do need the car to be at top shape so that it can last me another 100,000 or until the 3rd generation XB comes along

Your story is WAY overkill man. Save yourself money and not change them for a long time.
