Default K & n filter system, Anyone have it ?

Anyone have this thing ? And is it worth $350 ?

The filter itself is available for $45. ..... It replaces the stock lower half of the air box .... Think il try it as I will be replacing my filter anyway.

Just wondering ..... Thanks.

Many people have it, SEARCH and you'll find a lot of information on it. I cannot however justify a $350 price tag. Especially if you're "just going to replace the filter anyways" for $50 and are willing to spend 300 more for a tiny bit of pipes.

I did a search,didn't find anything, il try again.

I need to change the filter so for $20 more I was thinking of trying the k&n filter in that kit. As you know it eliminates the bottom half of the air box.

And was wondering of anyone did just the filter.

Il try the search again. Have a good weekend.

It's worth the price if you're worried about being smog-legal.

I don't get how it's all that great to suck in hot under-hood air, even if you do get more of it.

{Ahh, this reminds me of when I removed the bottom half of my Civic's airbox and zip-tied the filter to the top-half.}

You can drop in a K&N filter no problem. This may be my reading but the filter itself does not eliminate the bottom of the box, only the full kit does. You really won't see much, if any gain out of the K&N filter or removing the bottom of the air box. You will gain the ability to clean and re-use your filter however.

It looks like the k & n filter bolts up to the stock upper air box, am I wrong here ? ---> http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?id=767

That K&N system only uses the stock upper air box, the rest of it is new piping and I believe a new mount. If you want a K&N filter over something like that of stock, they make a simple drop in. The filter in the kit is different then the drop in.

Edit: If you're looking for an intake, there are much better options.

I would think a CAI would be superior to this in terms of power/sound gain even though a CAI doesn't add that much HP.

I have a 2010 tc with the full k&n typhoon system, install was a breeze and everything from brackets,heat shield and pipe were all high quality yeah performance wise not a giant gain but the growl of the line and whistle noise around 4-5k rpm is kinda fun to listen to.
