Default Oil Pressure light

I just purchased a 2006 Scion Tc, 5spd, and im already regretting my poor decision. The problem that im having is, after the engine has warmed up, when i depress the clutch, the engine bogs down, sometimes killing the engine, and the oil light will either flicker, or come on for a short period of time. I work at a service shop, and my manager directed me to checking the OCV. Today i pulled the valve cover, checked the timing, Good, pulled the OCV, not pretty. so i cleaned it up. Cleaned the throttle body while i was at it. i put some marvel miracle oil in with a fresh oil change. it sounds a bit better, but still the oil light persists. Im afraid an engine swap is in my near future. My main question is why does the oil light only come on when the clutch is depressed. I may add this is my first 5spd.

Try unhooking the battery for about 20-30 min as this will reset the ECU. After you hook it back up, let the car idle for about 5-10 min. You'll also have to re-initialize the sunroof and windows (see owner's manual on how to do this). This may work and worth a try.

Are you throwing any codes? Maybe check oil pump and oil drain pan for leaks?

Hook up an oil pressure gauge in place of the sender unit on the clyinder head to confirm your actual pressure readings. If pressure drops below 5 psi at idle at operating temp, its either your oil pump, or your balance shafts' bearings are spun and carving themselves into the upper oil pan casting. Only reason i say that is because it has happened to me personally, and ive seen a few 2AZ's do this in the last few years.

I'm just wondering what the mileage is on his engine...
