Default Optimizing the Intake

So we were looking to squeeze every last bit of power we could from the racecar. Now that the head is built, we figured we needed to get more air in. In short, our 3 inch intake not only grew in diameter, but also took out some of the bends in the upper engine compartment. This, combined with a bowl type aluminum end pipe with large air filter produced an improvement over our existing piece.

We netted around 5 more hp at the top part of the powerband by doing this. I'm not going to be able to do a big in-depth thing on this right now, as we are frantically prepping for Nationals. I can, however, try to answer any questions you guys might have.

well. doens't matter how big it is, thats as much air thats gonna go through that little hole that it ends up in.

now. if you had a way of forcing air into the engine....i think that would add a bunch of hp

wait....there is, it's a turbo. haha, theres not much you can do with an intake man, they yield at best maybe 5-6 hp and suck in colder air. but beyond that its an audible mod and cosmetic mod at best

Simply not true. Our repeated dyno results prove otherwise. If what you meant to say is that you aren't going to get a 100 hp gain, then sure, an intake won't get you there. For what it costs, our custom intake is a good performance mod. It's more important for a built head, and our gains would be even greater with a ported or larger TB.

thats what i meant.

by no means will it yield any more than maybe 1 maybe 2 more hp than he is getting right now. simply because...lets face it. an intake is

an intake.
