PO101 code, help

i've had a trd inatke on my car before, and just recently it broke the support arm, so i picked up one off ebay, some knock off brand... now occasionally after about an hour of driving i get a CEL, i scan it and its PO101... it only comes on after a good hour drive, and only occasionally... IE i drove all the way to iowa and it was fine, until a couple miles from my house... any clues as to the issue... and dont say its the intake... because i've already had a TRD one on there with no issues

Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. The PCM detects that the actual MAF sensor frequency signal is not within a predetermined range of the calculated MAF value for more than 4.0 seconds.
I would maybe reconnect your MAF - make sure your wiring is all OK. Possibly clean it? You can get MAF cleaner at Autozone or something.

In addition to what ack has said...

Your "knock-off" is not the same as your TRD intake, Injen, AEM, Fujita or any of the brands, the MAF measures airflow and if your knock-off is not of the correct diameter or any other subtle difference may effect the reading of the MAF and throw that code. MAF codes, in my experience with them, do not consistently throw CEL's nor can you tell when they come on, they're sporadic. It can only be a few things; your intake, the seating of the MAF in the intake is not airtight, the MAF is dirty, the MAF is backwards in the intake, the MAF is defective or the MAF isn't connected but then you would get a low voltage MAF CEL.

P0101 means not enough air is flowing across the MAF so either the diameter of the piping is incorrect for the MAF, the MAF is not seated correctly or is backwards, or there is a leak in the intake somewhere.

yes it's possible to be dirty at 37k miles. A lot of us have it getting dirty every year, around 12-15k miles it needs to be cleaned.

ugh i know this exact code for 07-up tcs the intake u got off of ebay has a 2.75inch pipe that the MAF sits in, on the 07-up tcs we need the MAF to be in a 2.5 inch pipe..
