Refabricate Factory Heat Shield with Aftermarket Header?
Has anyone done this? I was thinking about reworking mine to fit my weapon r header for summer. Just looking for tips or if anyone has just had a whole new heat swhield fabricated from a sheet metal shop or something.

i believe that there have been a couple people that have done this. try searching "heat shield" or something like that.
wish i could be more help. |
why dont u just leave it off?

Probably because there is hand oil burned into the metal. If that's the case go get some high grit sandpaper and wet sand away!

No I know how to install a header :P however do i drive from las vegas to phoenix all the time and with summer coming and 4 hour trips in 110+ temps, i just want some extra heat protection for the rest of the parts under my hood. |
Ahhhh I see! Looking good :) Just wait a little longer :P haha jk.

lol no worries bro ill keep an eye out. Anyways back to this i think that i will re bend my stock heat shield and cut out a ring for the new o2 sensor placement. However i just contacted a cnc sheet metal guy who thinks that he can fabricate me a new custom heat shield based off the design of the original, either way ill keep you guys posted. with pics

Look in my profile, there is a picture of mine, I had a local turbo shop fab it up for me.

Definatly do not reuse the stock shield, you can rent a brake from Hertz for the day and bend a piece of stainless pretty easy to shape in about an hour tops.drill a couple of holes and mount to the header bolts. Also vented hood is a great way to get the heat out.Or duct work from behind grill around the radiator to engine bay to get cool air in.

just use some header wrap, if done right it looks really cool and cuts down on underhood heat
