P0171 System too lean (Bank 1) <---generic codes

did you let it idle for at least 15 minutes? you have to let the car adjust itself to the new airflow. Its a trick I picked up after installing my first intake on my Matrix a couple few years ago.

That's why I wouldn't f*ck with weapon R...

You probably pushed it too hard right away... You gotta reset the ECU and then let it idle for like 5 min... Not 15!! That's a little excessive! But better safe than sorry I guess?

If you just toss it on and then go redline it, you'll throw the CEL

Peace

I'm no expert on anything according to some peeps, and just speaking from experience. Out of all of the intake installs (over 12) I've done, it has worked for me and have had NO CELs.

Newb. What are you hiding behind your back? It's it's it's...a CEL! Hehehe, just kidding Brad!

And yes, Weapon R isn't very reliable...

Default Adjusting time after Air Intake Installation

Long time ago, it was a common practice to let the ECU recognize any changes for a few minutes before running the car hard.

Today’s ECUs do it in milliseconds. To share with you a real life experience, having our customer’s tC strapped to the Dyno, we installed the Air Intake, started the car, pressed the green button on the Dyno control, and run the car to red line, 1st run. Jump to the office to see the results, back in the car, started it again and to redline 2nd run, no CEL/DTC.

There is no reason why a quality Air Intake, properly installed generates a CEL/DTC. There are a few cases related more to the installation than anything else that could generate CEL/DTC. If the intake is not properly tighten after the MAF, this could generate problems, because the computer receives a signal of the mass air sensor that actually does not match what gets to the engine, or if the ignition is switched ON with the sensor unplugged etc.

Every time you are running lean, back off the throttle, take it easy, if you push it you might loose it, and loose it big. Running rich is not so bad, because you might take advantage of the situation and make more power, but if you drive for an extended period of time, it will produce damaged spark plugs, pistons rings etc.

actually try calling weapon r becuase i had the same problem wit the intake on my car and i called weapon r and they said that they have had a few problems with the piping and they wanted me to send the intake pipe back to them to rework on it. they said that would solve the CEL light problem

Always disconnect your battery during an intake install, and let it sit for a while... Reset yer ECU...

Wait... Weapon "R" stands for "Weapon Rice" right?
