I have Doctor Isotope's Gearswitcher Ultimate with a 1.5" drop (there are three optional heights) and the weighted "Nismo" style **** (eight options - and all can be weighted or un-weighted). It's absoutely perfect for me. The shifts are quick and crisp. The height is perfect, although I have unusually long arms, so it may not be right for everyone else. With the linkage bushings and cage risers, it feels very solid - no noticeable slop. Doc I's website says that it's a 50% reduction in throw, and even though you can make the shifter up to 3" shorter, the cage riser-bushings keep the **** up away from the console... so you don't feel like your reaching into a hole to grab the ****, as happens with some kits.
I had the TRD kit before, and it was terrible in comparison. I might as well have been shifting with an oar from a rowboat. I haven't tried any of the other kits on a tC, but I've used a lot of different kits on a lot of different cars, and Doc I's is about the best I've ever seen. I highly reccomend it to anyone that's looking.
Notice, in the picture, that the **** comes with a new matching collar. Also, the stock boot can be rolled down inside so that it looks almost OE. The Nismo **** is large enough to get a good solid grip on (even with gorilla hands like mine) and the weights in it keep the **** from requiring too much extra effort when shifting.
