What does Garage is empty, Add now mean?

Okay so stay with me here. I bought a new starter from Autozone for my 2006 tC a couple weeks ago and it worked perfectly, but up until 3 days ago it just stopped engaging with the flywheel and now just free spins. Here's the deal, I've brought it back and when they tested it the bendix popped out but it just continues to free spin in my car. Battery terminals are good, fuses are good, no miss fly wheel teeth, and I replaced my alternator and battery about 6 months ago so no issues there. What gives?

Does it do this only when the car is warmed up? I have heat soak issues with mine, causing the same thing. My factory starter worked fine, regretting getting a Autozone one (it soaks worse), but I didn't know about the heat soak issue. Only way to fix it, is have a heat shield made for it. Otherwise if it's not heat soak then you will need to warranty it out through Autozone.
