stock s pipe question
I was just wondering what exactly is so "restricitive" about it?
What are the benefits of these other aftermarket s pipes and are they worth it?

it is crush-bent, so those bends are much smaller than the rest of exhaust, which restricts flow = restricts horsepower. they're only about 150-200 and idk if they're worth it cuz idk the horsepower increase
smoother bends (mandrel bends), and a larger diameter.
your title of this thread says it all, its an "S" Pipe. If you blow through a "S" shaped crazy straw, and then you blow through straight straw, which straw will allow the air to come out the other end faster (a lot of things plat into effect with this example, but its just to give you an idea).

save your 150 +/- dollars for something more NOTICABLE. you'll only gain about 1-2 whp from an aftermarket s-pipe. not to mention you would have to get a full exhaust system for the maximum benefit.
only 1 to 2 whp? As far as needing a complete exhaust system i am almost there, i am saving up for the strup header. so far i have removed the 2nd cat and replaced the stock muffler with a straight though tip one. So with a complete system how much hp should be expected from an s pipe?
I don't believe there's been a dyno of an s-pipe posted here, but I doubt you will ever see one. The companies that make or sell them will not conduct an s-pipe "shootout" for naturally aspirated tC's (like you see for headers and axlebacks) because the results would be so dismal they would hurt sales. Keep in mind a 1-2 whp gain - likely the nominal s-pipe result - is also the equivalent of a dyno error.
Unless going turbo your $150-200 is better spent elsewhere IMO.

I've never really heard any negative story's about the pulleys. I think the worst I heard was someones alternator died prematurely but thats about it.
I believe there are a lot of the things on the tC that will go way before you have to worry about the pulley's doing anything bad.
