tC or SRT-4?

I am trying to decide between the 2 right now. I want the S/C version of the tC and have been told it should run me about $2500 by the delaership with the base $16550 that's about $19050.

I found a leftover 2004 SRT-4 at a dealer in my home town with a sunroof and side air bags for $19000.

Also just so I don't continue to get "just a neon" and "they're ugly" and "girls car" posts.........I like the exterior of both cars the same AND the interiors of both cars the same. I wouldn't even be considering the SRT-4 if I thought it was ugly. I was looking for comments about daily driveability for both cars but since this is a tC forums mostly the tC.

Anyone that wants to give me their opinion please feel free. Thanks

had this in another forum so sorry if you are reading this twice...

there are no track times or performance numbers out on the S/C tc yet, just wait around until next month. i highly doubt it'll bring the tc into high 13s so the SRT-4 is the faster car.

Dude, come on now, if you want looks go with the tC, you want speed get the SRt-4. The two cars can't even begin to be compared.

THe srt-4 stock will still beat our tC supercharged.

SupaWhiteTc 03-10-2005 02:23 PM

That is a good deal on the SRT-4 but it has those ___ looking regular Neon Seats. Since it has side Air Bags you get the ugly seats instead of the racing style ones.

Daemon1313 03-10-2005 02:45 PM

The SRT-4 will kill the Tc in any performance related comparison. The Tc supercharger will simply downgrade it from a killing to a beating; Tc just can't compete with the SRT-4 without some major mods. The Tc is a better car when it comes to daily driving, reliability, resale, looks, and just about everything else. I was considering both cars when I bought my Tc. I needed a reliable daily driver so the Tc was the clear choice.

couldnt of said it better

I considered one too after driving a friends. Then I realized I would be driving a Neon and I would feel very homosexual.

bigwillie84 03-10-2005 03:16 PM

sry-4's are hunks of crap. u get roll up windows in the back a really cheap interior and the car itself can't really handle its own power, my friend had one and snapped 2 axles on the thing he got rid of it because of all the problems, simple fact is if u want to race the tc is not really the car for u, if u want a clean reliable car go for the tc, its the best value hands down

scion_tC 03-10-2005 03:28 PM

first you said that you were not a speed enthusiast, but you are lookin at the second fastest car in the dodge lineup? have you made up your own mind...besides you are comparing two different cars? If you are gonna be using this car for normal everyday commute, then the tC will fit you just fine, you'll enjoy better mileage and a car that has a better track and maintenance record then dodge. I am not here to lay dirt on the srt4, it's an aggressive looking car but b/c it's a dodge I would stay away from it, go with toyota.

aarontrini85 03-10-2005 03:37 PM

i would get an srt-4 if i could afford the inc. the new acr version will kick ___ it comes with ajustable coilovers and a bunch of other stuff it only cost a little less then 2k more for the acr version

SupaWhiteTc 03-10-2005 03:56 PM

My friend has had one for a year and never had any problems with it. He had one before that too that he totalled and never had any problems with it either. So your friend must not know how to drive, I also have another friend with one running 400whp and not broken any axles yet.

aarontrini85 03-10-2005 04:09 PM

come on who wouldnt want a beastly ___ car that can do this?

aarontrini85 03-10-2005 04:41 PM

That's a sick video.

The question between these two cars has come up before, please read these two threads for input:

if you want to keep your car for more than a couple of years get the tc, the neon will break after 40-50K miles

keep in mind how most people dirve the SRT-4, so you know the person that owned the car before you was probably hard on it

if you want a car to hold its value get the tc

if you want a srt-4 get a 2005 b/c it has bigger fuel injectors and a limited slip differential (LSD)

aarontrini85 03-10-2005 05:28 PM

i thought the 2004 and up all had lsd's? and from there forums srtforums.com they dont seem to have any real problems the most miles any one has hit on that forum is

1. BlazinSRT - 66,551
2. Sufiztic - 63,957
3. Mike Coleman SRT - 62,000
4. TEX - 60,000
5. 91CavGT - 53000 and some change
6. Silver SRT Bangin - 51000 +
7. Bigjmrman - 48,518
8. HTX - 40100
9. MassSRT - 32,300
10. Ayat108 - 32,000 +

It all depends on what you want to do with the car. If it's just a daily thing then tC for sure. If it's a racer that you want to mod then I'd still go with the tC. I know you said you don't want to hear "it's just a neon"... but it's true. If someone who owned a neon did the same mods to their car that the dealer did to make the neon into the str-4 you'd still call it a neon. But if you don't plan on modding but still want a faster car then go with the srt-4. If you want to pull more girls then go with the tC.
