Ticking Noise coming from pulley area(not valvetrain noise )
hey guys
the other day i notices some ticking that happens near the pulley area on my engine. i drove down to six flags today and the sound has gotten worse. the noise isn't loud enough that you can hear it when your driving in the car but when we where waiting in the car next to the parking pass booth with my windows down i could hear it very clearly. you can hear a tick tick tick noise most the time though when the car is idling while listening near the pulley or wheel well area ..
does anyone know what this tick tick tick sound could be?
thanks

I have the same noise, it's definitely coming from the pulley side of the engine, I have stock pulleys, and it happens whether the A/C is on or not, but I can't pinpoint where it's coming from, if you stick a stethascope on it and listen the alternator seems to be making the noise, but I can't tell if it's actually the alternator, or just the sound travelling through the alternator? I am going to try and diagnose it tomorrow as best as I can, I think I've narrowed it down to the Alternator or the Water Pump, I'll keep you guys posted, and if you have any input it would be greatly appreciated, thank you

check that nothing is hitting the fans in front of your radiator. they are plastic. I had an annoying clicking that I could not pinpoint. turned out to be the nipple from my catch can was pushing into the plastic fan housing by only about 5mm...just enough for an annoying rattle.
realized that was it when I noticed that it only ticked when the fans were on.
other than that...when you swapped pulleys, did you torque them right?

yeah i torqued everything correctly, also the noise happens when the fans are not on so im pretty sure its not that. thanks for your input though.

yea a faulty water pump is not a good thing at all, I've looked around and I wasn't sure if anyone made a high-flow water pump for our cars, I'm planning on boost soon, was just wondering if anyone knows if there's one for our cars, if not OEM will have to do. I think I'm smelling a Write Up when I do mine............
