spikeymike78 07-24-2005 05:10 AM

why dont u go for a different exhaust?? u can get the borla exhaust thru the scion dealer. i am choosing to go with hks hi-power exhaust..

boostedscion 07-24-2005 11:31 AM

Do you have the cash to get it from somewhere else?...if not working it into your financing would prob be a good idea

engifineer 07-24-2005 06:54 PM

If you have the cash and want to order and install it, do it through mcgorges or someone similar. Someone mentioned the borla. I heard them both on the tC, and cant tell a bit of difference. Both will give you 1 - 2 hp gains max considering they are simply an axle back exhaust only. The TRD sounds perfect IMO, and mine sounds better and deeper now than when I bought it last year.

TheTRD is only 374 Shipped if you buy it at www.scionpartspeople.com. Not to mention it is really simply to put on 2 bolts and 3 hangers. I didn't even need to raise the car.

i just want an exhaust for good looks and sound i dont really need it for performence.. so if u guys can recomend some good exhaust that arent to pricey let me kno im from the princeton area of nj so if anyone from this location and knos a good place to get an exhaust let me kno thanks a lot

Going by looks? TRD. All the way.

I'll use the HKS as an example... but there are many others. IMO, many of the aftermarket exhausts look like crap. The tips are usually WAY too big, or it's angled, either to the side or up.

For sound? I don't know. I don't recall actually hearing any of them. Though I'm sure you can find some video clips in the Power Hungry forum.

EDIT: You might want to check out these two:

I think the Injen and TRD sound the best... but that's just me.

the HKS hi-power cat back exhaust is nice... on other vehicles. On the tC its still axle back. The JDM angled look is an aquired taste. I like the trd tip and how its tucked in. the sound is nice also.

wow really?? was it any harder to get in or out without jacking it up?

dmanc 07-25-2005 03:16 AM

im new too all this car stuff so i want to kno wuts the differerence between an cat back and an exhaust??

ack154 07-25-2005 03:25 AM

Well, Cat Back is an exhaust. It's just a point of where the specified exhaust system starts (Cat being Catalytic Converter). Some are Cat Back, some (like the TRD) are Axle Back. It starts at the axle. Depends on which you're getting. Generally the axle-back systems have zero performance gains. They're just for looks and sound.

ooo thansk for the info

tCarloRS1_0 07-25-2005 04:50 AM

I had no issues at all. The hardest part was the torque needed to lossen the screws. But I held teh exhaust and my friend unbolted. I would not jack it up with out jack stands since the car did shake from unbolting. I wouldn't trust a jack.
