TRD Quickshifter

Is this a worthwhile option? Should I get it? What is the advantage?

Get the B& M...I have it and LOVE IT...you definitely want a short shifter for the TC...it is rediculous without one! I chose the B&M because it was cheaper and did the trick...not to mention that it is of high quality. The TRD is REAL nice, but is it worth the extra cash? Your call...It is nice to replace the plastic shifter housing in the stock setup (which the B&M uses) but is it worth almost twice the price? Happy shopping!

i'd rather go twm stage 2...i've tried the others on some of m friend's cars.....i found the twm stage 2 for autoX to be the best by far though

bluetc2005 01-03-2007 05:55 AM

How have you guys found the quality to be? I have heard horror stories of guys bangin' through gears and the short shifter breaking off...bad news...how are the ones you got? What are they made of?

trdsparks 01-03-2007 02:52 PM

The TRD shifter is a quick shifter and the B&M/TWM are short shifters. Basically they do the same thing but the TRD shifter isn't really shorter in height but the throw is. Keep in mind that with all the other shifters you have to take the shifter assembly apart to install them and the TRD is a simple drop in installation. If you have faith in yourself to install the B&M then by all means go for it and save a few dollars. BTW we have then both in stock!

install on the twm was pretty easy....a few hard pieces to get off but thats just patience...i think the quality of the twm is superior and it definetly can handle aggressive shifts

I have the TRD Quickshifter and I love it! You will wonder why Toyota didn't just make it that way to begin with! Pretty big difference when you are wanting to quickly bang through the gears, which let's face it, we all love to do. As far as the TRD being better, probably not. I have not had a chance to see the TWM but, I had a B&M in my last car and really liked it. I think you will be fine no matter which brand you choose, as long as you don't go with some friggen e-bay cheap-o! .....(Just my 2 cents).....

i don't know, i really like my stock shifter the way it is. doesn't seem like it needs to be much better. and i rip through my gears...maybe i'm happy with it because i don't know how good it could be?

scikokid 01-04-2007 03:00 AM

Ignorance is bliss! hahaha

malibuboy54 01-04-2007 03:06 AM

once you get a short shifter, you'll never want to go back....the stock height and throw is too long for the tC

unique_tc_upgradez 01-04-2007 04:07 AM

Yea seriously. For the tC to be considered by most a sports car the shifter is too high and too long of throws for it to be in that category. I'm going with the TWM Stage II myself after I get some other things done to the car. Just my $0.02 though.

I bought my 07 when I was home on midtour, and I had about 4 or 5 days of driving the it with the stock shifter while the TRD was on order. It makes does make a world of difference; the shifts are shorter and a great deal smoother. Personally, I don't mind the stock shifter height...That's probably because that's all I know (the whole 300-ish miles I put on it before I had to go back to Korea).
