Default tsudo N1 axelback install ... long story w/ pics

my wife has been wanting an exhaust for her tC so i looked around on youtube and decided that the tsudo N1 sounded perfect for her ... so i bought one off eBay and we both anxiously waited for it to come ...

here is where the bad starts ... for some reason, the seller required a signature for Fedex to deliver, with our busy work schedules, that delayed the delivery 3 days.

Ok, package signed for, open the box, and quickly inspect it ... beautiful! super shiny, welds look great, bends look perfect!!!

8:30 at night a drag the jack and stands outside and immediately get to work. removal is a breeze, 2 bolts, 3 hangers, stock exhaust is in the trash! ... go to put the new tsudo gasket on the stock pipe, too small. no big deal, the car has 2,000 miles on it, the stock one will be fine ... on to the hangers ... 1, 2, no problem ... about to bolt it to the stock pipe and there are no nuts welded to the tsudo flange? no big deal, i find 2 nuts in my junk box and finish the install.

slide out from under the car to admire my work and the exhaust is sitting up in the bumper!!!!

now its after 9:00 and and there is no where that i can go and get new/longer hangers!!!

i say f' it and will deal with it tomorrow ... my wife only works 4 miles from the house so how much damage can it possibly do??

this much:

as soon as i get home i head to 3 different auto stores and finally find some longer hangers at NAPA ... here is a pic for comparison:

and the part number if anyone else needs some:

ok, back under the car ... mind you its day light now ... and check out what i find:

yes, that is a hole from sh*tty welds ... extremely frustrated now ... i throw the new hangers on and cut the melted bumper pieces and here is what i have come up with:

it is way off center and i will be taking to a local exhaust shop to have the hangers re-welded and the hole patched

moral of the story ... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

honestly i dont think its worth it ... i/we REALLY like the looks of the N1 and the sound is P E R F E C T !!!

and even with the cost of the new hangers and the re-welding of the stock hanger brackets/hole patch, i will still come out way cheaper than a "name brand" system

the melted bumper is really frustrating, but it is my fault, i should have put the stock exhaust back on untill i got the new hangers

Yeah, I would seriously contact Tsudo and have them send you a new one. Why should you pay money for welding on their behalf? It's THEIR problem, not yours. Have them send you a new one.

Be warned. I think some of the Tsudo n1's on ebay are just copies of the one sold by speedelement (even though theirs is kinda a copy of the apexi). If you didn't buy from the site, you will most likely have to deal with the ebay seller if you need anything.

i did purchase from speedelement ... it came in a tsudo box and the can has a tsudo name badge tacked to it

i sent speedelement a message, but like i said, im not too worried about it. I dont think he will send me a new one since the wife has all ready put a few miles on it and honestly i dont want the hastle of sending this one back. if he offered me a partial refund, i would gladly except it, but i wont hold me breath.

i am taking it in on saturday morning to get fixed and ill post up pics and a total of how much i have spent .

yeah muffler shop or tuning shop.

you can also try sending your repair receipt to that eBay guy and demanding he pay for it. I would contact PayPal and open up a case. Sellers like him should not be able to get away with that kind of crap.

Same thing happened to me, but with the Tanabe Concept G Exhaust. It melted my bumper, but just a small piece, not nearly as bad as yours. I had to take it off then took it to a muffler shop where they bent the hanger a little problem solved, but now I have to fix my bumper, you can't see the damage, but I know is there.
