i have heard it come and go when im driving. i had to really listen before i noticed it. but now after a few WOT runs today, this noise came back even louder. any ideas before i take it in?

 

Sounds like horrible piston slap. My best bet is that motor is toast.

 

Motor sounds toast to me too. Have you pulled your plugs?

 

That's rod knock, you made it worse with those WOT runs.

 

have not yet pulled the plugs. so if it is piston slap, time to rebuild with new pistons? what else is involved. i never had to rebuild b4.

 

its easier to get a new used motor than to rebuild. it sounds to me like a rod gave up and if that is what happened my guess is that the crankshaft is in bad shape.

How exactly did you manage that? like how was your driving before all this? did you skip an oil change? do you drive it hard all the time?

 

Motor is def fried... Idk what happened or how you drive. but something is no good

yeah my mechanic gave a dirty look when he first heard it. he said he wouldnt even try an leakdown compression test. he already knows its fried.

my driving habits were drive like i stole it the first few years, then i matured over the last few years with a light foot. between 6hour trips to mammoth every other weekend, i havent really pushed it hard at all. it burned a quart of oil on me once a year ago but hasnt since.

dam bro that happend to me if it is the same then its a bent rod and every time u turn it on and rev up it makes it worst for the block idk but if u can do all the work ur self and the nois just started u can try a rebuild but honestly it would be cheaper for a used motor and wile u have the motor out u can see how bad it really was ........ best of luck to u pm wen u find out wat it was
