Question Whistling sound with slight acceleration

HI, I have a 2006 scion tc with a trd cold air intake and a hks axleback exhaust. I noticed that my car gives off a whistling sound when i gradually accelerate at around 2nd gear and up, but when I completely step on the gas pedal the whistling sound fades away. Is this normal? Could it be my cold air intake? A loose hose? COuld this potentially be a bad sound? Oh yeah and I dont have a turbo or a supercharger completely stock I only have CAI and axle back exhaust. Any SUGGESTIONS welcome .....Thank You..

It's actually not the CAI. It's air whistling past the throttle body. When the throttle is only open a little, the air rushes past making a whistling noise. Open the throttle more and it goes away. Your basically hearing the Scion Weenie whistle. Stock tCs do it too, it's just louder with intake and exhaust, especially the intake.

word. i think its badass. at idle, my TRD CAI sounds stock, at slight acceleration i got that sweet whistling that almost sounds like a blow-off valve to me, and with some heavy throttle i get this spine-tingling roar. who doesn't love their intake? now, if it only made power...

Default Intake Whistle

I have 2009 scion tc and my done have the whistle sound. I did full I/H/E and I think the whistle sound is kinda cool. I had a 2005 tc and it whistled loud and I'm wondering what changed in the new tc's. Can anyone help with a knowledgeable answer?

Just to add, in 5th at like 51 mph I notice its loudest at partial throttle. You can still hear it with a supercharger, so I dont know if its the throttle body, I have no clue......

I have an 09 stock intake and only header for exhaust side.

It makes the same sound stock. I read some years back that toyota deliberately designed the intake track to make the sound. Something about mimicking a turbo spool up but who knows? If that's the case they should have just made the car turbo from the factory and saved us all a bunch of time and money.

I know some stuff doesnt come up on search.. but seriously, this is probably the most asked question since the car came out in 04. The above links were only a portion of what I found simply searching for "whistle"... there are probably 10 times that many threads on this. Not trying to be mean or anything... but this horse has been beaten to death.. and then back to life again.
