Default 7lb pulley to 9.5lb pulley question

This is for the supercharger. I've read you don't have to change anything going from the 7 to the 9.5 pulley.

The only question I have is: does it use the same belt? If not what's the replacement if anyone knows off hand?

Chances are you will need a smaller belt

Read it twice, no mention of a belt.

Unless you're going off of the fact that its a smaller pulley?

Yes, you'll need a smaller belt. I don't remember exactly what size, but Non-Stop Tuning would know if they're still active, of you can search the forced induction forum because it has been asked before.

You will need a different belt. Gates K070890 is the belt you should look for.

I think I saw that thread. They were throwing around a ton of different numbers and from what I can remember no one really came to a consensus.

the reason there are 2 different belt part numbers is because you need a different belt depending on whether you have a 2005-06 tC or a 2007-10 tC

If you have a 2005-06 tC you need Gates K070890

If you have a 2007-10 tC you need Gates K070905

That was my next question. I did check out their website, but couldn't find that.

EDIT: I lied, I saw that page, but didn't realize that the belts were down there.

Thank you so much!

Enjoy the difference, its a real attitude change in the cars performance.

Changing your BPV?
Boost Gauge?

It won't happen till the end of August.

I'm pretty new to this scene, so BPV = bypass valve? No, is that something that should be changed with increased psi?

And no gauges either. Was thinking about getting them. But then I need to find a place to put them...not sure I want to column. Suggestions?

yes, it would be a good idea to change the bypass valve, if you don't then you would be releasing all of the boost your gaining from the 9.5lb pulley back into the uncompressed side of the intake, basically voiding the reason for installing a smaller pulley.

you can search for tC supercharger bypass valves on here for what people have used and the settings people have tried with some of them as they can be adjustable.

1) stock BPV is weak and fluffy
2) replacement BPV or BOV or hybrid will help you control (to a point) your new level of boost.

Just asking about the gauge because while you are in there messing with a BPV you can add in the line for your boost gauge. That and when/if you do any dyno's its just another line you can track on the chart.
like GJPJR84 said, search scionlife.com and you can find both kinds of setups (BPV and gauges) and then choose what fits you and your car. Also, remember that just because its a Scion doesn't mean you can't use other car parts. There are some Audi/VW BPV's that work (size wise) with our S/C.

if i remember the forge BPVs were for VWs but i don't remember the part #s, there are in several threads here about them though.
i think i remember a Porsche valve working too and sounding pretty sweet

I'm using the adjustable forge splitter hybrid bpv (with the vent capped off though) i don't remember the setting i am using, it is was from a thread on here about it.
some don't like this one because it clicks whenever you're not in boost and its kinda loud, using the cap and not having it vent muffles it a bit.
I like it because i can adjust it without having to take it off/apart.
