AEM F/IC Setup
#362
Hi I am new to this site. My daughter recently purchased 09 Scion tC that has been modified. Turbo, exhaust with header, aem -fic, intercooler, turbonetics 38mm wastegate , larger injectors, looks like MAF is relocated to pipe before throttle body. Im sure there is more this is just what I noticed so far. Issue car was running great for 1st month but now it idles poorly and does not run well. turbo spools starts to pull hard and then just drops out. I think it is running 8-10 lbs of boost. I am new to this and was hoping someone had some ideas as to what to try. I have changed the plugs they were fouled - rich. cleaned the MAF and the throttle body. currently only one code showing, I think p0037 P0037 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 2. I suspect it could be the MAF or O2 sensor but I am wondering if the AEM tune is messed up. Any assistance on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Without being able to look things over, this really sounds like a vacuum leak, although if you have the MAF after all the piping, that is a bit uncommon. Still check all your piping and couplers. Also, check the PCV hose that connects from the back of the valve cover to the intake manifold.
As far as the maf goes, you can monitor the air flow rate using a OBD scan tool, or you can hook up your FIC to a laptop and monitor the MAF voltage through the AEM software. If you do this, read up on how to connect the FIC. You don't want to overwrite your tune and end up dead in the water.

Is it possible to get a base map from someone so I can get the car started and running for street tuning? .
Please PM me.

i think there is a slight misconception that the ecu will over write whatever youve done....so far the only time iv seen the computer over ride my changes that iv made is when i used a bs tune that threw the car in limp mode . i think what people really mean to say is that with excessive fuel trims the computer will try its hardest to compensate for it......but if you take away the primary o2 sensor signal and adjust it so that the computer thinks everything is kosher your golden. its not exactly like what ever tune you put on the car the ecu will eventually over ride it, its the fact that not enough attention was payed to the 02 signal. does that make sense?
I have been trying to do this, but when I follow the instructions/videos from AEM on how to set the O2 map, nothing happends
I have the settings on O2 table in setup menu to 4.95Volts Hi and 0 volts low, Load input to MAP and mode to VOLTAGE. I then open the O2 map and start changing the voltage value on the entire map at the same time I read out the AF value on the UEGO and STFT on my diagnostic tester, butt nothing happends when I change the values on the O2 map, so I`m not able to make the AFR to Voltage and STFT table that`s needed to build the O2 and fuel map
I also think its strange that this can change anything since the O2+ wire from the FIC only is seposed to be tapped to the signal wire from the AF sensor. Or have I missread the instructions?
I see that we have some strange type of AF sensors on our cars, ( 3.2 Volts ) are we sepose to connect them as narrow band or wideband? How did you guys connect the O2sensors and manage to build the O2 map on your setup?
Hope that someone here can help me in the right direction
