Anyone running the Camry transmission?

Reviving thread! lolz
I was interested in this way back when, and this would definitely help boosted tc's, especially those doing drag racing. All that seems would be needed done would be the final drive swap. From what I have researched (again, a year and a half ago or so) this would mean swapping in the input/main shaft and the ring gear from the camry. Then I would just keep our 5th gear.
1st - 34mph
2nd - 59mph
3rd - 91mph
4th - 125mph
5th - 155mph
At around 70mph, we would be at a little less than 3,000rpm with the e351 final drive vs. 3300rpm with the e350 (tc trans).
I used a gear speed calculator as well.

I have been in a few other boosted cars (Cobalt SS S/C and a Golf GTI 1.8T) and they both had long gears and accelerated real well. With the rev limit at 7krpm, the SS would hit around 70 in second!
I want to explore all gear possibilities, swaps, conversions, etc.
I know there are a lot of nay-sayers here, but if done correctly boosted tC's may actually be able to put power down in part of 2nd and 3rd. Would help both on the strip and the track imo.

just my two pennies and what iv done,
in the 1/8th mile i top out 3rd gear and just hit rev limit just before i cross the line (roughly 80mph trap), now i could raise the rev limit but if i get any faster i would find myself right back in the same place. However if i were to go all out with internals and a large turbo it may be better just to shift to fourth instead of swapping out gears.
I still think first and second gear are pretty much useless so either way it may still be worth it.
take all this for a grain of salt though.

For me, if i could grip all of 3rd gear it would make me enjoy my car again! I love how it pulls in 4th, but it sucks that i have to be going so fast to enjoy this!
Im running the 255.s which helped but if the gear was longer! It would be nice!
I can tell everyone this, If everyone wanted to pitch in a little bit, i have a tc transmission i could replace with the camry gear sets to try it out.
It would require me buying a junkyard camry trans. which wait one second while i check car-part.com.........................
http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/sear...erPage=1&iKey=
there is the pricing...
anyone wants to start donating im down to try it..

<^ Deff, not a crack dealer LMAO. I was layed off when my location closed just like you bro! My income now is only side jobs. But that might all change soon with a job offer i recently received!
Either way... I lost my job right after i sold my last turbo kit, and decided to do the ptuning long block!
So YEAAA..
Donations for camry trans it would include a how to and some pics and video.. Cant promise you it will work... But can promise to try!

Are you reffering to donations?
If it were to happen i would start a new thread, And basically would make it like a group buy, were enough people would join in to cover cost once it was matched everyone would donate in, and i would buy trans take photos and see how it goes! Anyone donating in would expect nothing in return as i could buy it and find out it doesnt even come close! Or i could buy it and find out it works perfect and my gears are longer!

Always said it before, I'd rather just have a 7800rpm redline instead of going through the hassle of tearing my tranny apart. I can just type in 7800 into my Ultimate (I would have a built motor obviously to rev that high).

still doesn't make 1,2, and part of 3 any better though. That is the whole point for getting a different final drive, changes everything. I am willing to do this also! I was actually going to buy both a tc transmission and a camry transmission and do it myself, win or lose. I don't see anything being different besides the main shaft gear and the final drive (ring) gear. Should be fairly easy to do.
