Default Car Will Not Start - PLEASE HELP!

The last time I drove my car was about 8-9 days ago and its been in the garage since. I left the house this morning to go to work and my car won't start.

When I go to run on the car, the car sounds like a machine gun (starter) and the interior lights go dim.

I checked all the fuses, they were fine! What could the problem be?

PLEASE HELP!

I could try that... jumper cables are in my dad's car, i will try that when he gets back home this afternoon.

Can anything else be the problem?

Sounds like a dead battery to me... I have heard the machine gun starter sound a million times.. Just have some one try and jump start you unless you have a battery charger sitting at home.. Depending on how long you leave your car sitting with out starting and depending on how weak your battery is.. Certain items will slowly drain your battery.. causing it not to start.. If your ever gonna not drive your car for 8 or 9 days. I recomend going out and starting it every 3 or 4 days and let it idel for 15 mins to charge your battery.

Def. a dead battery. Don't know why the battery died so quick though... you leave a light on?

thanks guys... it was the battery. as soon as i made my last post, i realized that i had a battery charger in the garage. I charged it for a few minutes... tried to start it... the car attempted to start but failed so i left it on a bit longer... and it worked.

I really appreciate the help!... I'm just lucky i have a job that allows me to work from home if i want... or else i would probably have been fired.

Also lucky to be part of such a community that is so helpful! Thanks Once Again!

If you're sitting for only two days and your battery dies on you, it sounds like there's something wrong to me. I went to Japan for over a week last October and let my car sit in the parking garage at the airport and it started right up when I got back. You might want to probe around with a voltmeter to check for a power leak somewhere. My mom's Avalon had a shorted cable somewhere once, her battery would be dead in like a day an a half.

I had an old 93 escort GT when I was in college (read BROKE) and the starter went out on it. I'd park anywhere as long as it was on a hill.
