Default A/f Ratio lean, but smell gas like crazy!

I boosted my 05 tC over the last couple days and have done everything correctly I think. But I am now curious as to why the a/f (wideband in s pipe) is showing 14.9-15.2 and is bogging like crazy! But at the same time the smell of gas from back of the exhaust pipe will knock you out! Is their any insight on this? I have not even gotten it out of the garage due to the issues with its idle. It is a full dezod s1 kit and I have the aem fic. I have loaded both the Dezod 8 psi map and the free aem fic tC map on it and the AFR stays the exact same! Also tried the stock injectors with no fic just straight oem ecu and got the same exact result! Lost as ever fellas. Can someone help me out please?

Ps. The injectors are not leaking. I have the injectors that come with the dezod kit (550?) and the stock green ones as well. The only think I can think of is I accidently filled up with lower grade octane from my local grocery and I know I should have used premium!:/

Removing the cat in the stock exhaust manifold will make it smell no matter what. Your idle AFR should be about where you are describing it to be. It will fluctuate back and forth as it idles. Keep that Dezod tune on there though. Email Paul at sales@dezod.com they will fix any problems you are having with their product, assuming you purchased it from them. I am sure he will be more than helpful either way though.

Thanks bomber. Ya I have spoke with him many times so far and he is a great guy. I may have found my issue....I feel stupid. I think my turbo manifold gasket is bad and leaking as I felt around during idle and I could feel air escaping it. I just replaced it and am about to retry if that was it then I feel so stupid... Anyways. WIll be back with good news I hope. Thank you btw didnt know it would always smell that bad after removing the cat in the dpipe.

Maybe the wideband sensor is messed up? or the gauge is faulty. If you purchased the wideband new, AEM is usually good at repairing or replacing under warranty. Also make sure that the gauge is on the right channel. When you blip the throttle, do the AFR's change? Idling at 14.9-15.2 isn't too bad considering you have basemaps loaded.

If you're smelling gas from the exhaust, that means you're running stupid rich. Check the plugs to see if they're fouled and gapped correctly. Do you get any black smoke? Black smoke = rich.

Thanks for the response Ju, no black smoke but I for some reason believe it is running rich as well. I heard that we are not supposed to gap our plugs?! I am lost. I got iridium one step colders for the turbo kit and so just changed them. Wide band was used, the gauge itself and the UEGO? look to be in good condition though. I also started leaking something next to where to oil feed line would connect. I posted it in the engine and transmission section though. It is on the front of the engine, not the side where all the lines and sensors connect. It is circled in the picture I posted. If you guys have any clue, please let me know on that as well. I appreciate all input that has been given thus far.

My step colder plugs came gapped at .044 and I put them down to about .030.

Interesting! Thank you. I was told if I attempt to gap them then I would break them. Burgundy did you get a chance to check out the picture? If so any thoughts? Thanks brother.

NGK BKR7EIX I believe is pre-gapped to 0.032. BKR7EIX-11 is pre-gapped to 0.044 (which you'd have to reduce to between 0.030 and 0.035). Each car is different, so start with the larger gap and work your way down. Mine is gapped between 0.030 and 0.033, for reference.

Leaking oil would reduce oil pressure, not increase it (I think).

Thank you JU and bomber. She is running like a top now. No oil loss now! All good! Smoother than before the turbo! AFR is around 14.7-15.1 though. A little lean I know. I have an appointment with the tuning shop on may 8th. I ended up ditching the fic and larger injectors until the tune. I just needed her running to get to work. Are these afr's safe to run?

btw I live 2 miles from work!

Dont give it more than a quarter throttle. Anything above 12 in boost is not safe. As a matter of fact dont boost it at all. You have a week of babying it my friend lol.

Actually that AFR for idle is ideal.
