So, I report to my ship on the 9th of January, and we are scheduled to deploy for 6 months shortly afterwards. The car is freshly turbo'd and my wife cannot even attempt to drive a stick, much less a stick with a stg 4 clutch. Any tips for leaving the car sitting around for 6 months. I'm already gonna put it on jack stands in the garage. Should I have her start it every few days or just drain the oil and let it sit? Info appreciated.

Just fill up the tank b4 you leave tell her I guess once a week two start it and let it run for like 10-20 minutes or something..

Good luck Man !!! Stay safe..... Put a can of fuel stablizer in your car will help to keep moisture out of it!!!

 

thanks guys. it should be a fun cruise. i get to see australia and japan and stuff. i'll probably be on here once a month or so. Well overdue photoshoot of the car coming this weekend. I'm that guy that doesn't have any pics to back anything up lol.

 

How come you have to start it once a week? Any danger not doing it?

 

I went on a 4 month underway and all I did was use fuel stabilizer and unhooked the battery. When I came back, the car started up just fine. I changed the oil shortly after though. It's been running like a beast since...

 

The fuel can go bad and build up a lot of crud if the car isn't fired up regularly. Or so i've been told..

Fuel can gum in little as three weeks. Fuel stabilizer works fine. I do it every winter for my Motorbike

I use to have a good poster on my tool box at work. It was a good stress reliever. Was a big circle that said "bang head here" and if it didnt work then you repeat until unconscious

 

bring the car with you!!

 

If you take out the battery, DO NOT put it on bare contrete as it will fully deplete the battery. You can although put the battery on a piece of wood THEN on the concrete.
