help me out here

my wife has a tc and i want to know about trd chargers i have a cobalt ss/sc and the little lady wants to keep up with it. im pushin 270whp and 235wtq what does she need besides the trd charger. what are you doin to hit 270whp

DJ08tC 01-16-2010 08:44 PM

I got nothin

1GreeKtC 01-16-2010 08:48 PM

it would be much cheaper for you to go the turbo route as stated above...the SC will be costly, merely impossible to push 270whp and much less reliable..
look around the F/I threads for mixed reviews on this everlasting debate.

DJ08tC 01-16-2010 08:51 PM

yea, if she doesnt have one already you will have to get one used since they discontinued them. All I have seen is problems with them anyways, best bet would be to go turbo.

good luck though

Jiggaman 01-16-2010 08:55 PM

turbo or NA...no supercharger...they are crap

GQQSE13 01-17-2010 03:47 AM

yea unless you get a company that will custom build you a s/c and will make sure everything is built properly, i'd go turbo or stay na, because its rare to find people who havent had an issue with the s/c on their tc

rhythmnsmoke 01-17-2010 04:09 AM

Your wife needs/wants a Turbo, not the S/C. SC on your Cobalt does not have the same lack luster performance as one on a tC. Turbo is more efficient for us, and her goals.

draxcaliber 01-17-2010 04:27 AM

with a supercharger, 9.5 psi pulley, and exhaust, i did 225 whp. not quite enough to keep up with you're cobalt. a simple turbo kit can hit your numbers with just 10 psi.

chevysssc 01-17-2010 04:29 AM

wow! i never knew the trd charger had issues. what seams to be the issue?

DJ08tC 01-17-2010 04:34 AM

the bearings go on them all the time, you can name something and it has probably happened. It is just a horrible design.

chevysssc 01-17-2010 04:34 AM

i guess she will have to settle with N/A. what #s are u guys hittin with full bolt ons im talkin head port n polish, port n polish throttle body, cams, header, catback, intake and tune

DJ08tC 01-17-2010 04:35 AM

probably 200 maybe alittle more if youre lucky

gingles 01-17-2010 04:39 AM

what do you have done to your cobalt?

chevysssc 01-17-2010 04:40 AM

even with a ported head?!

DJ08tC 01-17-2010 04:42 AM

yea, tc's are the best candidate for na you wont see huge numbers like in other cars.

Kanchi 01-17-2010 04:52 AM

if you want to go N/A do the bolt on then head here:
