installing gauges

i need to know where is the best place to tap in for power for my gauges. i will be running a boost, volt and a wide band (AEM). can i use the same power sauce for all 3 gauges? i have a fuse tap thing also.

ECU slot on the fuse panel.

I think it's 10A - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

ID tap at the ignition harness coming off the key switch. This is where ive tapped every accessory i use as this harness is designed for high current (40+ amps) so you wont owrry about interfering with other factory devices in the car. In this harness youll have +12v constant, ignition, and accessory so its up to you when you want the guages to power on, id reccomend using the ignition. Also make sure you fuse this wire with a 10a fuse within 6-10 inches of the harness as the only fuse on this harness is the master for the vehicle and a small 18-16ga wire can easily short and melt without tripping the 100 or so amp master fuse.

Good advise.

Just 1 10amp fuse should be good for 3 gauges?

u can tap the cig lighter for power... turns on and off like the ignition wire. its a 12v source ... i only have 1 gauge on it so far but never had a problem... if u plan on adding 2+ then do the above with the 10a.

power > 10a > guages (anything more then 2 and should do it this way)

i dont have a fuse in the mix .. just ran str8 power to the gauge.. had it for months like this no problems.

the wideband will use up to 6a on startup due to the heater on the 02 sensor, the other guages will be under 1a each so 10a should do ya good :)

O and one correction the voltage meter will only use enough current to power the display - probably under 500ma so youll be around 7.5a total

Thanks, thendawg.. I'm planning on wiring my gauges soon..

How many wires are in the harness going to the ignition? I'm at work right now and cant check..

But anyhow, I'm planning on wiring a boost gauge, EGT, and wideband.. so I guess that should be around 6-8A tops right?

this makes me glad when i installed my alarm/remote start i ran extra 12v from the ignition.
