Default looking to go SC but have a question

I currently have an 06 auto tc with just over 17,000 miles on it. I am deffently going to be getting a SC soon but I have a question about the install of it. I see that if you install it the SC warrenty is only for 1 year but if the dealership installs it the warrenty is just the same as the cars powertrain warrenty. So my question is if I bought the SC kit from the Exclusive Sponsored Sales or a new one off ebay could i just take the SC to the dealership and let them install it and still get the longer warrenty. Or if I bought it online would I have to install it myself? Or do I need to buy it from the dealership and let them install it to get the full warrenty? Any info would be helpful!
thanks,
Chris

if you buy a brand new never opened geniune toyota trd supercharger for your tc, take your tc, and the kit to your dealership, and have them install it, it will have a full 5 year/60k warranty just like your powertrain.

if you buy a new kit, and install it yourself, you have a 1 year/12k warranty on the supercharger.

if you buy a used supercharger kit, it will not be warrantied no matter who installs it.

also, if you modify anything on the engine, like headers, pulleys, intake, or tune, they will void your warranty if anything should go wrong with the superchager.

exhaust is still something you can do though.

Im pretty sure the supercharger tacks itself onto your 3-36 waranty, Its kind of a moot point if you plan on modding your car at all. If your mechanically inclined then let them install it then mod it as you please, but if you cant figure out how to fix stuff when it breaks leave it be, but still have them had installed it. Im only saying have toyota install it because if something is going to happen, history with these has shown its going to happen in the first 3k miles or so.

no, the supercharger does not join your 3/36k bumper to bumper warranty, it joins your 5 year/60k powertrain warranty, and thats a fact.

tcchris38, get it now since its on sale for 1850 at trd sparks. you can always install it when you to (i.e 6 monthes later). the day it gets installed is when your warranty will start. these newer s/c's have the redesigned brackets also.

would it be better for me to install it myself and take the chance or would I be better off letting the dealship do it for the warrenty

Liberty Toyota was around $630 including tax and oil change. They're in Burlington, did a pretty good job.

As long as you don't do anything to modify the TRD kit, you should be within the tolerances toyota designed. You may find that if you do a lot of big hill driving and use the tranny to brake you'll get a little hotter, but otherwise you should be fine.

Well just got a quote form a dealership in DE for the install they want to carge me $1300 and said they would need my car for 2-3 days!!! That is some bullcrap!!!
I am smart with cars but do your guys think that if I installed it and got the one year warrenty would that be good? Has anyone had any problems with the s/c that they needed the warrenty or is the s/c pretty dependable that I wouldnt need the warrenty???

The only reason to get the S/C is to retain the warranty. If not, go turbo. Plus I dont know about the newer S/Cs, but there are a lot of people that have had problems. Also, like someone else said, if you mod your car (up the boost, change the header, etc) you will void your warranty anyway.

yeah, if there were dealers around my area for 350 install then i would do it

but the s/c's at trdsparks have the new redesigned ones w/ the "idiot proof" s/c bracket as they say LOL
