Default Oil Leak help

I got an oil leak...at least I think it's an oil leak.
Seems to be coming from my oil feel line, which my oil pressure guage is also teed off of. Must have started whithin the last week or so.
what's a good way to seal it up? And do I need to drain my oil before I take the feed line off?

Also, my Oil Pressure gague does not seem to be reading any less then before. If I have an oil leak, shouldn't my Oil pressure be reading less then normal?

good idea. There is just teflon tape right now. I don't belive teflon tape is good for oil, right?

So, do I need to drain my oil before I pop that line off?
Ima try to post some pics tonight so everyone else can give me input weather it is indeed an oil leak from there.

Yeah the rtv sealent will make a big difference becuase mine was leaking alittle bit before i put it on also. I'm not too sure but teflon tape, but know the rtv will work.

You don't need to drain ur oil before u pop that line off.... maybe a little oil will come out of it... but its not gonna spurr out everwhere if your car is off because i just took my line off to put replace my turbo. Just make sure the car is not on lool.

Oil can break teflon tape down and it will work its way into the bearing of the turbo. Bad news. RTV is the way to go.

Yes, please as yamaha said, remove anything teflon that has to do with oil lines, it usually makes things worse.

Red RTV sealant is the way to go.

breaking down the tape would exlain why it wasn't leaking before, but is now.
We had some on the oil pan as well (I think) so we redid that and welded it.
I didn't even notice the feed line had tape till I noticed the leak. Can I pick up some Red RTV at autozone when I go to get another quart of oil?

I'll post up picks tonight just for assurity.

Yes Autozone and PepBoys both carry it. Should be about 5-6 bucks if that.

OK, here is a pic of where it looks like it's leaking from:

Here it is pooling up:

And here it's dripping down (I thought it was cracking open!):

But I'm wondering why if I have such a leak, why my oil pressure gause is not reading lower pressure?

never ever use teflon on any part of the oil system. now with that said go to the toyota dealership and get a tube of FIPG.
(form in place gasket) this stuff is the shiznit. it will seal anything. it's really meant for toyota oil pans, but it has many other uses. it will not break down. spent the 10$ and do it right. forget all that permetex crap.

Wait, the same stuff in the white tube for oil pans? I already got that!
I didn't know if I could use it or not. I gotta dig through my "extra parts" bag and find it!

i ad this sameexact problem, my problem was that the "T" that came with my turbo kit was actually bigger( got it measeured at my frineds shop)very slightly that my oil pressure sensor so it caused it to leak. isolved my problem by ordering thses to replace my 'T' fitting. hasnt leaked since. http://www.eiptuning.com/ecomm/prodd...=AIP-2092-2-2S

Interesting. The thing is, mine didn't leak for 1000 miles. Just started a week ago or so.
If they were the wrong size, it would have been leaking from the start, right?

But I'm wondering why if I have such a leak, why my oil pressure gauge is not reading lower pressure?

its possible that the oil broke through the teflon and is leaking through the threads, a simple tightening down of your fittings might fix the problem. my problem that i tried putting my oil pressure sensor into a home depot 'T' and for some reason the threads didnt match up correctly, make sure the fittings you have are NPT

did u have to rethread the head to make the fitting fit or did u just screw it in halfway? because i was talking to a guy who is a distributor for turbonetics and he said you would need 1/8NPT female to 1/8 BPT male to make it fit into the head w/o retaping the head. I simply just screwed mine in and it went in about half way cuz mine is 1/8NPT to 1/8 NPT also but i used the rtv and it has never leaked since.
