Were you running on an 1/8th mile track when you did go?

how do you like the APEXI AVCR? I know there's always been debate over the manual vs. electronic. But I feel as though they have vastly improved from like 5 or 6 years ago.

From my own experience I love the AVC-R. Electronic boost controllers are MUCH better than manual boost controllers, when set up properly. If you take the time to utilize all the features of the boost controller, it pays off. I used an AVCRII on my turbo tC and we're putting one on the Evo X as well.

I'll let him chime in as well.

I agree. AVCR is the best controller I have used period. It's ability to alter boost based on gears as well as by RPM is fantastic and unique. I wouldn't use anything else.

At first it was pretty hard to configure. Since I didn't know all the features. I went through the manual a couple of times. Tested it out.

Now I love it. I never see a spike in boost. I had to play around with the start duty cycle a bit, but then it was all cake. =)

I'm going to the track tonight, to see how my car fares @ 7psi. I'm not going to push it more, yet.

I believe it was a 1/4 mile. The last time I went to the track, I had the boost leak and the injector problem, and my car was running like crap.

Hopefully this time around it will be different.

On a side note. I know you've had your turbo kit since forever. Have you had any problems with the head cylinder gasket?

I think I might have a water pump problem. I'm not sure though.
From what i've read, it could be the thermostat, water pump, air pocket in the radiator, or the head cylinder gasket.

My coolant temperatures are highhhh, while crusing at 40mph it goes up to 115-125fahrenheit. Coolant fluid is full, fans are turning on.

I'm just breaking my head over this.

When I speed up, and let off the throttle, I let the car slow down by itself, I hear this really slooooooow squealllll noise. Its not the brakes, and its not a grinding noise. Its not engine knock either, I was monitoring all the data with my laptop. Its not the timing either. AFR is on the rich side to be safe. All of these tests were done out of boost.

There is no oil in my coolant. I'll check the dipstick in a few, to see if there is a sweet smell in the oil. I'll also check to see if I get a hint of sweet smell in the exhaust. I hope its the waterpump or the thermostat, and not the headgasket.

I'm more leaning toward the water pump, because I noticed there was a hint of liquid around the the pump itself. It might be from when I cleaned the engine bay the other day. But if it was water it would have evaporated. So i'm guessing its coolant? bad water pump seal? ahhhh someone help

^^Ouch, yeah sounds like a headache of a problem. Can't say that I have ever experienced any of those problems.

The water pump seems to be working, and it wasn't leaking after all. Its actually leaking between the short block and the head cylinder =(

So my best guess is that its the gasket. Hopefully its not the cylinder wall. That way I can sell my short block in the future.

I do have a spare short block though, which i'm saving up for internals, and sleeving.

Cometic gasket to the rescueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I'll have to place an order for it this weekend, and i'm guessing arp head bolts.

Guess i'll be wrenching away next week.
