question about air-air/water-air
i am ondering if i could use a water-air dry as in just use it as a air-air
i ask this because i need some sort of ic so if my turbo ever blows up the fins are caught in the ic i dont care bout the cooling, and i want to use a water to air because they are small and fit under to hood

It can be done but air to water is really only efficient for race purposes. Everyday driving will cause the air to water ic to become heat soaked very quickly. But if you do decide to do it... The easiest way to do it is weld a 90 deg bend on to the turbo facing the drivers fender and use a box style a2w ic behind the bumper on the drivers side then plum the upper intercooler pipe the same way most cold pipes are run. Use alchy instead of water and make sure you have a circulation pump and resevoir. For best results put dry ice in the resevoir to increase effiency.

lol i dont care bout the cooling i have a home made fogger, i just need something to be kinda like a filter between my turbo and motor so if for some reason my turbo shoots a fin it is trapped by the ic and doesnt go into my precious motor, keep in mind i will be at 6psi again so its not like cooling is mandatory

I run a PWR liquid-to-air kit, I love it, I've done 10+ back to back highway runs with other club members and when pulling over to check under the hood. The front portion of the kit was hot, as expected and the piping after the core was still cool to the touch.
i just run 50/50 coolant in it, but could easily add ice or water wetter or anything of the like to its overflow tank which gravity drains back into the system.
Ill try to find some pics of it installed.

Trust me if you loose your turbo you wont care about your intercooler regardless of what type you use.....
cause those parts WILL make it to your motor.
And why are you worried about the turbo going? If your using cheap ebay knock-offs...well then your playing with fire..and thats your own fault.
But if your using a NEW not rebuilt (chance of it not being balanced correctly) then you have nothing to worry about.
It will lock up or blow a seal from bad oil feed/drain issues before you "loose" any compressor or turbine blade.
Now if your worried about fitment and cooling issues....
Just use a water/meth kit with a larger reservoir (you will use allot of water/alc) and you will be fine.

and what kind of turbo do you have again? a turbo that break like that dont deserve to be in a car. the turbo is the problem so its better to fix, less hassle even less expenses involved

well problem is when using anti lag on my dsm the turbo blew and shot fins everywhere into my cahrge pipes....buess what prevected it from entering my motor? INTERCOOLER!
You got very lucky then....
just dont abuse the anti-lag (only use it when its needed and not for too long)
Watch any import drag race team in the "box" (burn out area) if their driver stays on the anti-lag too long they freak out....why cause of all the problems it causes.
If you really worried about it....put a timed relay on that feature...could save your ****.
don't get to agressive with the timing for the anti-lag
and welcome to drag racing.....got to pay to play.
Thats why anti-lag is not good for street cars.....most dont know what its for and use it cause it sounds cool.
and if you want to get creative:
use a water/meth kit for cooling
but in the ic piping before the nozzle...
use baffles in the ic pipe.....alternate sides top bottom left right ect...for about a foot so say 4 3 inch sections.
put 1 or 2 holes (not in the middle but in an alternating pattern per baffle)
=
first section baffle is on right (one or 2 holes random pattern)
second section baffle is on top (one or 2 holes in baffle in diff pattern that first one)
third section baffle in on left
fourth section baffle is on bottom
(doesnt have to be 4, could be less or more just used 4 as an example)
that will help protect your setup and help you sleep at night.
