serpentine belt tensioner

serpentine belt tensioner
I have an 05 Scion TC with TRD supercharger. It has 36,700 miles on it. I had the supercharger installed by the dealer at approximately 20,000 miles. It has not been modified in any way. It started make a loud noise recently, so I took it in. The dealer told me the bracket was cracked, and replaced it under warranty. The dealer also told me that the serpentine belt tensioner was weak and leaking. It had to be replaced at a cost of $500. It was not replaced under warranty because it is a "wear" item. My question is whether this is typical? TRD's literature states that the supercharger does not increase maintenance costs, or wear and tear on the driveline. Certainly, if this part must be replaced this frequently at a cost of $500, then it substantially increases maintenance costs beyond what Scion represents to be normal maintenance costs for its product. Additionally, I would like to know whether it is likely that this part failed early due to either faulty installation of the supercharger unit by the dealer, or due to the cracked bracket. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Mine went out after about 20k miles of my supercharger being put on. Thats BS that its a normal wear item. GTFO. They are only about 100 dollars on EBAY btw. You just need the little shock thing.
