Street Tuning
so. this is me :loser:
yes, i know; anyways, onto the damn tuning. I'm about to take a stab at street tuning.....what should i know? i know i have to take fuel out and put fuel in until i get the right ratio from stoichometric, but where do i start? what about ignition maps, what am i achieving there? and the o2 map, what about that? yes, i'm super confused. oh. and dont' say that i'm stupid for not knowing what the hell i'm doing, i'm learning and asking questions. better than blowing it up and then asking what i did right? on that note. what is load? |

load has something to do with the "load" on the engine.. like how much of its power is currently in use. Its on my scangauge but I dont use it so im not positive.. but thats my stab at it.
You sound like a guy that likes to mess around with ____ like that.. im that way too.. gonna watch the post seems interesting also what are you using for boost control? |
manual boost controller
yea, i love figuring things out, it's in my nature. ill ask stupid questions but i got more figured out than the average joe. |
im in the same boat as you heiu.
all i need is that stupid USB cable i ordered 10 years ago. im gonna come over when you start to tune that thing, and to do my injectors with me...lol got any maps? |
seems a bit dangerous. Other than cost, what advantages would there be to doing a street tune as opposed to a dyno tune?

mostly learning how to do it and how it works cheaper fun?!?!? bragging rights lol idk answer the man hieu! |
well, i put the turbo on all by myself with some help from my buddy danny, so i have bragging rights in that area.
jk. for me, it's 100% just to know how to do it, and to know exactly what my car wants, needs, and what i craaaaaaave. |
i take it that nobody else has any input or advice?
|
:nails: I will love to learn too.
|
whats that supposed to mean?
i can't tell if you are laughing at me because i want to learn or not. |
advice, dont do it.
Not only do you risk alot of potential damage to the engine, but you risk alot to the people around you as well. A street tune will require full throttle runs in 3rd gear, maybe 4th. And trying to pay attention to the laptop and all while speeding through the streets, is not the best way to learn about your car. Just my opinion tho.. |
what if i have a long stretch of road that nobody drives on....and i'm not the driver.
btw, this is by no means the only way i have my heart set on tuning my damn car. i just want to know how to tune and i don't have a dyno. |
street tuning is not all that bad. Atleast your putting real world load on the car and not a 3000 lb roller.
If you need help, i can point you in the right direction for getting some tuning down. it's really not all that complex if your using a piggy-back. start off small and make little changes. gradually increase the boost and keep an eye on the fuel. if your going to be running less than 10lbs of boost i really would'nt mess with timing. if your breakin up on then start pulling a tad.. what are you using for a wideband? i'm giving the bare basics, but shoot me a pm and i can point you in the right direction |
Check out this site http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/ they have a bunch of stuff for the emanage along with updates and other info. If you spend a few hours on there you may find what you are looking for.

i dont understand how you use thd updates. every time i DL one of them, my emanage program has all these errors. do i even need to update it? if so, how do i do it? do i dl each one started from the oldest update and move up? or can i just dl the latest one? thanks only thing i learned how to do so far is change the parameters lol |
unzip or unrar the file that you download. Then open that folder (once unrared or unzipped) and copy ALL of the files inside it to your 'x:\Program Files\TRUST\GReddy e-manage support tool' file.BOOM.you're updated.
Oh,btw, just download the latest one,no need to move up the list until the latest one. |
You could always go to "Test and Tune" day at the track, wednesdays during the dya I think.
But yeah, load is basically boost, which is what you want to tune, but it is read as absolulte. I read somewhere (either AEMpower.com forums or the Dezod FIC thread here) that 14.7psi (I remember cause it's same as stoich!) would be at 0, so anything over that is how much boost psi you are at. so basically on your map, anything 14.7 load and under should be normall drivning and abover 14.7 is where you wanna start tuning for boost, adding fuel and pulling timing to get your AFRs down into the 11 range. |
